RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 18-06-2015

Just got a nice cheap, working Bosch pump. £35 bargin. Just need to either send to Darren if his got time or give it a crack myself and build an ok pump.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Piggy - 18-06-2015

give it a crack yaself and wack a 10mm head on it!

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 18-06-2015

I know its not that bad to do. Its just Darren has got a tad more experience than me lol. Also by the sounds of my last message to him as much time on his hands as I do. So basically nothing. Lol. We will see what will happen. In other news. This arrived today.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 22-06-2015

Right so plans are for this. In no particular order
Finish off black masks.
Replace fuel pump
Get in radio
Replace clutch
Replace headbolts
Replace turbo
Replace axle

ARPS!?

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 22-06-2015

Hopefully arps in the future. Got to get the pressing matters done first like pump ingressing air! Lol

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 24-06-2015

Obviously with my pump starting to ingress air these needed finishing first. Priorities....

Thought sam had some on the estate ??

Look great, how long did you leave them in the oven ?

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 25-06-2015

20 mins at 75 degrees. Could've done with a touch longer I bent the upper plastic part a little to much.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 25-06-2015

We all know my pump is ingressing air atm. Well today i was at a derv specialist and got chatting to him after he had sorted some injectors for a different job. Told him about the old ve pump rebuild. At which point he said how do you set them up. Apparently by driving it down the road is not an acceptable answer.

it's not in the perfect world...but we don't all have ve pump bench testing thingys! Or a rolling road to then monitor everything.

But then after all that you will STILL need to do on the road testing as the loads will be different/air flow etc.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 25-06-2015

True we did have a giggle over it. Good bunch of guys. First time I've met them. Lot better than the other lot we used to use. This lot know about Bosch ves as well so its all good.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 25-06-2015

New radio.... It will work. Maybe. Probably not.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Poodle - 26-06-2015

Making your own two-way or something?

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Eeyore - 26-06-2015

Seen this is working on facebook now. Just a standard radio as far as i know.... but race spec.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 26-06-2015

It works. Just not very loud without distortion. Really not an issue. It was a rest run. £2.90 well spent Imo. Looking for a more powerful one now. Its just so I don't have to have a radio in centre console.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 02-07-2015

So Im fed of of filtering veg oil. Is it really worth the hassle?

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Danny Wideboy - 02-07-2015

New stuff is cheap enough, when you factor in the cost of filters and time taken, I CBA anymore, svo or liquid dinosaurs for me now.
You must be able to get a Costco card through your work?

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Dum-Dum - 02-07-2015

Yeah I never saw the point in filtering VWO, half of it is rubbish you have to get rid of, it's messy, time consuming and costs you in filters.

New stuff is 80ppl even from Tesco and less from the cash and carry and you get tesco clubcard points too.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 02-07-2015

Yeah I use Makro near me. Mega cheap. Think im gonna switch back.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 17-07-2015

So. I got my 11mm built today. Took me 3 hours. Absolutely no idea if I've done it right. Should bang it on car and see really. Probably Sunday. Obligatory look I've built a pump pics.

More pics.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 18-07-2015

Pulled apart the 2.1 this evening. No longer has the pump on it all ready to install the new one tomorrow. You can see the pump leaking a bit. Was ingressing air bad!! Hopefully it will run. Here's some pics. Bitches love pictures.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Dum-Dum - 18-07-2015

Cant wait for an update on how an 11mm improves it.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Uberderv - 18-07-2015

Looks good, WVO is worth the hassle if you do the miles Smile

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 19-07-2015

So the pump is on. Its running and it has a base tune on. So im in to eat something. Then ill be going out again. The issues I've run into is the boost wont go no higher. Piggy reckons i need a mbc and in all fairness I have to agree with him. Also I need to get my idle down as well.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Ruan - 19-07-2015

How are you adjusting said boost?

If it's still the stock actuator, you might find the spring in it is too weak and exhaust manifold pressure is simply blowing it open instead.

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - Piggy - 19-07-2015

Yeah he using stock actuator

Needs an mbc. And knocking back a spline to drop idle

But if its going well and it only has a std clutch Im not sure I would wana go anymore

RE: Project hopefull, 2.1 tuning and little fixs - bashbarnard - 19-07-2015

Right I've now finished tuning today. Has taken a few hours but im happy with results, for now. Knocked it back a spline on the pump and maxed it as far as she would go. Got the boost to hold a tiny bit higher. Defiantly in need of a mbc. But its still blowing clean on boost. So plan is mbc, then knock the pump back another spline to put some more fuel into it and watch the clutch vaporise into a million little pieces. Ps its still holding atm. I really don't know how.

Also will a mbc help with keeping boost constant in every gear. For example 1st and 2nd are the same boost, 3rd and 4th near enough the same then 5th I have to be careful with specially as it goes CHOOOO when I let off violently in 5th.
