Is it better to get an induction kit or a cone filter? - Nathan1305 - 03-03-2014

Hey guys I have a 306 1.4, I don't like the original air filter system. So is it better to get a induction kit or a cone filter system for a 1.4? I'm not looking at power, just looking to help the cars breathing and a little bit of a better sound.
Thanks Smile

They are the same thing... The induction kit is just cone that comes with the relevant hoses to join the cone filter to your system. Smile

I guess you mean an uprated panel filter or a cone filter/induction kit? Personally I'd go with the induction kit on a 1.4, and infact I did, twice lol. Performance panel wont give any noticeable gains. Cone will sound awesome under load. Big Grin

Just get a cone filter and stick it on the end of the air box. Take the filter out first of course. Under £15 and works perfectly well!

i've got an K&N 57i induction kit made especially for the 1.4 or 1.6, had it on my old 1.6 sounds really nice, i'm breaking that car now so yours for £25 posted . . .Smile

Hold up guys, the 1.4 system is not the same as the 1.6 system!

This is a 1.4 57i... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-57i-Induction-Kit-For-Peugeot-306-Phase-3-2000-1-4-57-0205-/300990813155?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Cars+Type%3A1.4%7CModel%3A306&hash=item46147353e3

Hmmm but why would it be different Tom, they're practically the same engine . .Smile

The throttle body and airbox are different between the 1.4 and 1.6 iirc. I've got a pic of my old 1.4 with the KN 57i, but struggling to upload it atm.

Panel filter mate.

Cone filters create hot air feeds so you lose power. The best induction for your car is the one it came with. So with a better flowing filter, it's, better.

Have you actually tried it? Its a 1.4 ffs, you don't notice a lack of power, you just notice a bit of extra noise. If this was a powerful diesel for example, it'd be different... Smile

Heres the pic, if I'm wrong then fair enough but I'm sure the kits are different Smile -

RE: Is it better to get an induction kit or a cone filter? - Mattcheese31 - 03-03-2014

yeah it's different to that, although i think it might still fit, looks like they redesigned it, is that the same as your engine Nathan? . . .Smile

RE: Is it better to get an induction kit or a cone filter? - ADV_93 - 03-03-2014

If you want it for "noise" wrap tights around your throttle body.

warraya, a man or a mouse?

This is mine, sorry for the quality it's dark out haha. It looks different to me

RE: Is it better to get an induction kit or a cone filter? - Toms306 - 03-03-2014

The TB looks slightly different, but the airbox and breathers are the same still. Maybe Matt can get a pic of his to compare. Smile

No, that would just be restrictive....theres a reason cones have a large surface area. Wink

So if Matts Throttle Body looks like mine then the induction kit he has will fit mine?

RE: Is it better to get an induction kit or a cone filter? - Toms306 - 03-03-2014

Should do but I cant guarantee that lol. You're mainly looking at the part where the airbox connects to the TB, I'm also not sure if they're the same size on the 1.4 and 1.6. It seems odd to me that K&N would sell different induction kits if the same fitted both but not impossible. Smile

i'll get a pic tomorrow . .Smile

Oh okay Smile hopefully when Matt gets the picture tomorrow we can tell if it will fit

RE: Is it better to get an induction kit or a cone filter? - Rippthrough - 04-03-2014

Actually the TU's are one of the few engines that do respond well to an induction kit...

...but only because it ditches dinky little ~20mm venturi on the 1.4's that limits them to exactly 74bhp.

Awesome Smile so I should get a power improvement as well? I just hope the one Matt is selling fits mine
