T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

Anyone on.here running a T25 turbo on there d turb what are they like for fitting and all that

RE: T25 turbo - Mattcheese31 - 27-02-2014

Jenks and padge have, they're slow spoolers, get a td04 or better IMO..

RE: T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

Ah really scrap.that then.haha td04 is cheaper too

RE: T25 turbo - 306pc - 27-02-2014

I have a hybrid T25. Spools up almost as quick as my GT15, has loads of grunt and good top end. Not as much as a td04 I'm sure but instant boost. I doubt headbutting 6k constantly is good for an old engine. Jenks put mine on, main problem was the oil line, get a flexi and save loads of time! However, now it's on I love it. However, it is a hybrid and different to a standard T25. I'd go for a GT20 if I was putting another turbo on.

RE: T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

Hmm I've seen a t2/T25 hybrid.forsale got me interested but wanted 250

RE: T25 turbo - Tom - 27-02-2014

The td04 is a whole heap better than the T25... And personally my td04 was faultless all the time, never really bothered me how it drove.

RE: T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

How laggy is your td04?

RE: T25 turbo - Chris_90 - 27-02-2014

When I had td04 on I didn't think it was very laggy tbh, found it quite nice to drive, but fitting gt20 to my 205 as moving with the times not sure if I'm gonna like it or not but bought a bigger turbo ready to replace it if I don't like it.

RE: T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

Gt20 always sounds good in the write ups but the td04 has been.done so many times and it's cheap and people make adapters on here

RE: T25 turbo - Tom - 27-02-2014

Personally i never found it laggy because i never needed to cram my foot into the carpet, you just feed it in and its no trouble at all. Not like its slow either, with the right pump and in the 205 i was lighting up 3rd gear for fun.

RE: T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

Yeah 205 I bet with no weight would be fun I had a totally standard 1.9 gti loved till its spit the gearbox haha

RE: T25 turbo - karl1989 - 27-02-2014

Only thing you have to bash the bulk head with tdo4

Depends which manifold you put it on Smile

Not true!

RE: T25 turbo - Tom - 27-02-2014

Yeah thats bullshit, i put pine on a k14 mani and it was fine.

RE: T25 turbo - padge - 27-02-2014

not once had to smash a bulhead, on either T25 or td04, TD04 is a much better turbo, my T25 didn't even start to boost until 2800-3k, td04 started at around 2400-2500 and was a much more aggressive pull.

RE: T25 turbo - sherman306 - 27-02-2014

Aggressive pull.that sounds nice Smile

RE: T25 turbo - padge - 28-02-2014

bang for buck you cant go wrong with a td04, its just 90% of big turbo xuds now run td04s, gets a bit boring now.

RE: T25 turbo - Chris_90 - 28-02-2014

And with a td04 most cars snap rods, it's like fitting a time bomb Wink

RE: T25 turbo - padge - 28-02-2014

I've not once chucked a rod, just lucky I guess! Wink

oh and ive also ran a t2/t25 hybrid, this was much better than a t25, spooled like a t2 and went like a t25, was one of the best turbos ive ever ran.

RE: T25 turbo - Dave - 03-03-2014

Yeh I've been in a t2/t25 hybrid, they are pretty spool happy.

RE: T25 turbo - Piggy - 03-03-2014

Some peeps do need to move on from the 90s and its turbos...
Its 2014 and a small GTB turbo would completely embarrass a T25

RE: T25 turbo - Dave - 04-03-2014

yeh, but when a T25 and T2 are both peanuts, I managed to make a bolt on fitting t2/t25 hybrind for less than ten quid, it was real bargain basement tuning but added lots of hp for buck. If your a real scoundrel and dont care if compressor wheels go down your intake if they're not balanced then do this, otherwise I wouldn't recommend though :p

Knock him down a bit a get it.

RE: T25 turbo - Ruan - 06-03-2014

For 250 quid you could buy and fit a very nice 2056/big KKK turbo.... With a proper downpipe....

RE: T25 turbo - Tom - 06-03-2014

These T2/T25 hybrids are they just a T25 in a T2 turbine housing? Or is there a difference between the professionally built ones and the ones thrown together?

RE: T25 turbo - 306pc - 06-03-2014

Mine was professionally built with a cutback turbine wheel to relieve backpressure as well as a full 360* thrust bearing, staggered oil seals, balanced and blueprinted. According to jammapic.

RE: T25 turbo - Tom - 06-03-2014

Anyone can do bearing and oil seals, its the machining thats awesome! Just wondered how the homebuilt ones were put together.

RE: T25 turbo - padge - 06-03-2014

Think its badically a t2 exhaust side reemed out so a t25 slots in.
