Thrust bearing noise?? - PugLover1984 - 19-02-2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpsS0yn1-B0&feature=youtube_gdata_player What do you think? RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - DeeTurbo - 19-02-2014 Does the noise change when you press the clutch down? If it doesn't I think it might be the crank pulley, I can't really tell from listening on my phone. Also you could do with oiling your door hing/check strap. RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - pro_steve - 22-02-2014 make a video of the noise when the clutch is depressed, and if that doesn't silence it, pop the bonnet, give us a good view around the injector areas etc, also the left side of the engine (when looking front on) to see if the noise is coming from there. Could just be something loose on the air box if you're lucky. RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - Tom - 22-02-2014 You should be a tv show presenter. Be honest was this video really about the noise? I think you were having fun RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - pro_steve - 22-02-2014 haha that's what I thought Tom RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - PugLover1984 - 24-02-2014 Haha no never made a video before, thought I'd do it like they do on the telly! Well it's definitely the clutch bearing. Should I get it done ASAP? RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - DeeTurbo - 24-02-2014 It is best to as they can fail and do a lot of damage. Mine let go and bent the release fork. RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - Razorback_Rob - 01-03-2014 Can't see the video now but mine makes a quiet rattle if out of gear but goes when clutch is engaged or when moving. RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - Poodle - 01-03-2014 That's exactly how a dead thrust bearing sounds, kind of a dry metallic whirring noise. Thrust bearing noise?? - Razorback_Rob - 01-03-2014 Knowing's half the battle eh? aha fingers crossed I can find a low mileage hdi with gearbox etc and give mine a new lease of life. RE: Thrust bearing noise?? - Poodle - 02-03-2014 That's it, i'm sure the reason they go so often is because people who don't know better sit on the clutch at junctions and lights, rather than taking it out of gear. Imo you'd be best off just replacing the thrust bearing, in fact you may as well do the whole clutch while you're in there, else you run the risk of buying one that'll be knackered in six months. |
