My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 17-02-2014 Well here it is! back too my roots as a renault fanboy My £350 Mk1 Clio 1.8 16v Has been dry stored for 10 years due too gearbox failure. Had a look through the monstrous service history for it and found the following which was bonus: Receipt for £850 brand new 17" OZ superturismos Receipt for £470 brand new Kent RN1601 camshafts Receipt for £350 ported skimmed and polished cylinder head with larger valves And amongst other things it has the usual exhaust system and induction kit. Shell is tidy considering the time and location it was in but im well aware its probably a complete rusty turd underneath im quite prepared for that Matt RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - WiNgNuTz - 17-02-2014 Looks pretty good mate, always had a soft spot for these clios. Fingers crossed you don't find to much rust, should be a fairly epic little project for you, good luck! RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - ginge191 - 17-02-2014 It's not quite a Williams though.. my friend has a legit Williams clio and jesus it's nice! Keep this looking smart! They can easily become real chav shed's! Awesome engine work! RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 17-02-2014 Its my 7th clio valver / williams and tbh the difference between this and the williams is the same as between a GTi6 and a Rallye, its so marginal but its enough to make you want the better one Although that said i prefer the rev hapy 1.8 compared too the torquey 2.0 williams lump, and no theyre not just a bored out 1.8 RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 17-02-2014 Heres a few of my old ones for comparison: Very first one: Second One: Third one: Fourth: Other ones include a red breaker and a black breaker safe to say i pertially know what im doing with them RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Tom - 17-02-2014 Do they not do any other colours? lol RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - silverzx - 17-02-2014 Looks exciting. Probably similar to the 106 in terms of power/handling? RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 17-02-2014 Very similar too the 106 in terms of power but has longer legs 140bhp as standard. as for colour, i had a grey one too i missed that one out! Grey one This one was number five absolutely adored this thing and it went VERY well RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Eeyore - 17-02-2014 I have never really seen the appeal of these. Think it must have been a few years before my time. RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - RetroPug - 17-02-2014 They weigh very little, are a bit more powerful than a 106 gti and are probably just as chuckable? RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Toms306 - 17-02-2014 Why would anyone buy 7 identical French cars? Now I know what we look like with 306s! RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - 7057sam - 17-02-2014 1st one on your second post looks very nice RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - DazzaHDI - 17-02-2014 I love mk1 clios! Had one as my very first car but never got to drive it properly :/ truly gutted! But saying that, I'd rather have my hdi than the 1.2 Clio power wise I haven't got any photos of it anywhere either but I managed to find it on google earth [attachment=13663] RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 18-02-2014 Imagine something that drives like a 106 GTi, sounds like a GTI-6 but its actually quicker than a GTi-6 in every way imaginable standard for standard.... Thats what a Mk1 Clio 1.8 16v is RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - mcglynn - 18-02-2014 check out 'clio bishopscourt' on youtube, a guy we met has one on bike carbs and it smokes everything in a straight line lol. its completely stripped out and has a custom cage in it, sounded absolutely amazing! RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 18-02-2014 Also bear in mind that some Mk1 Clios are 24 yrs old now they were the shizzle back in the day! i really do hold a candle for them but i love my Rallye for the torque and the rarity and how easy it is too drive Quite a lot of boosted and throttle bodied valvers out there, www.clio16valver.co.uk is a top notch place for them! youtube 'Beaniesport' theyre track prepped 172 engined mk1 clio has a spec list incluind ITB's, Carbon roof, 172 running gear and much much more! RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - mcglynn - 18-02-2014 Did u check out that carbed one? Im not into them myself but he was doing an MOT on an old glanza with a straight pipe and big turbo He showed us round it and it was a fine bit of work lol RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 19-02-2014 Havent had a chance at the moment what with fixing the rallye and work being so hectic i shall make an effort tonight though RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - mattyh24hdi - 19-02-2014 Great car nice to see them still living getting rare now. RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - padge - 20-02-2014 my mate used to have a mk1 with a 172 engine, kept wanting to swap for my old dturbo. RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 20-02-2014 I have never driven one with a 172 engine but i have had a couple of 172's and was greatly dissapointed by them if im honest RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - padge - 20-02-2014 Yeah, my dturbo destroyed it. RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - ozonehostile - 22-02-2014 you've sort of got me looking for one now haha RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - 306 blaze - 23-02-2014 looked for a 1.8 RSI not too long back only one I found that was decent for sale was up Scotland you just don't see these for sale nomor I would love another one anyday. RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 24-02-2014 Ah the RSi is the 8v 1.8, 110hp very nippy little motor! great for dropping a volvo turbo lump in also! Yes thats correct, a volvo 1.7T lump is infact a renault engine and drops straight into a mk1 clio (22-02-2014, 08:19 PM)ozonehostile Wrote: you've sort of got me looking for one now haha Also got you looking at a gti-6 RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - jpc - 25-02-2014 I do have a soft spot for these MK1's. Haven't come across many of these valvers for sale really (or at least not in my budget at the time) otherwise I would have probably had one. I look forward to seeing you bring it back to life RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 25-02-2014 there was one in malvern last week or the week before with tax and test for £500 best place to look is the owners club! RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - RetroPug - 18-03-2014 Somehow I actually really want this car... Addicted to 90s french tin cans... RE: My shed in the shed... (long term project) - Matt-Rallye - 18-03-2014 Early 90's french hot hatches FTW still producing 205 gti's, R5 turbos and AX GT's but phasing in the S16 / gti-6, clio 16v's and ZX 16v's |
