Air Filter Choices. - silverzx - 10-03-2012

Until a BMC CDA pops up cheap enough on eBay I need something as my current JapFest-2010 £15 jobby is looking rather tired!

What are peoples thoughts on the HKS style mushroom filters like such: http://tinyurl.com/8x5ajzm

Can see it lasting a while as it shouldn't need oiling etc?

Trouble is all the eBay ones are tiny! Usually 15cm heigh and 13cm wide.

Anything half decent like this: http://tinyurl.com/6wvehdy is too bloody expensive!

Any suggestions?

they do the job Big Grin have heard good things about them but i would go for a cone one, and as big as possible for no performance loss (be it minimal anyway)

That mushroom one isn't to bad had one for a few months but now I've got my green cotton cone filter I notice the difference a lot.

i'll let you be the judge of how objective this article is but it doesn't look good for the mushroom style ones.

thats my one...there's doesnt need to be anything special for the turbo, a prevention for anything being sucked up.

id assume those shroom filters are'nt going to be fantastic when its facing 25ish psi..? that material could be quite resetrictive?

yeh although in the description it says it comes with a 57mm adapter, it didnt, but had like a 60, 75 and 90 - or something rediculous like this...

They replied saying do I want a direct fitment filter instead (if I supply my size required). Ofc I said no thanks as it would probably be a crappier design.

yeh just ask for the adapters - would make more sense in case you end up with a different sized inlet piping in the future Wink
