Aux belt tensioner stiff - mattgreene - 23-01-2014

My hdi had the auto spring belt tensioner, has gone stiff, not as springy as it should be, was wondering if anyone had tried to free it up by wd40, its seems like its stiff and sticky (giggy giggy) thus letting the belt slip, any ideas anyone??
Should i try to free it up or just replace.

Personally I'd change it, if it's old enough to have got stiff I expect the bearing has also seen better days. Up to you though, WD40 is cheaper lol.
