11mm problems - LewisG306 - 06-01-2014

Wondering if anyone can help?

At Danny's swapping pumps , we have just got it running but it's running like shit.

It sounds almost as though the timing is out , but we have checked timing 2 times now and it's been perfect. Won't rev properly and chucking out white smoke...

The pump didn't have any diesel in it at all when sent?

If anyone could help asap then that would be brilliant

Cam plate 180 degrees out ?

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 06-01-2014

Used Lewis's old injectors off his 9mm so that's not a issue

Tried advancing and retarding, makes no differance to the running

RE: 11mm problems - Paul_13 - 06-01-2014

Ignore that

RE: 11mm problems - Jenkosowls - 06-01-2014

Who built the pump on first place?

RE: 11mm problems - LewisG306 - 06-01-2014

I'm not really sure , it's from strictly_derv on here and I do believe it was on his 205

RE: 11mm problems - rryan - 07-01-2014

did you romove the belt or leave the pulley in place when changing the pump

how did you put the belt on as it is easy to put the belt on a tooth out

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 07-01-2014

I did the belt mate it was timed spot on I've done 4 belts alone on Lewis car

Put the 9mm back on as he needed the car for work

Fired straight up and ran perfect

My diagnosis is the pumps f*cked!

RE: 11mm problems - anto - 07-01-2014

Did you open the pump to see how it was put together?

Oh dear! I no you locked it off but did you try knocking pump a tooth out? Remember Ted having issue like this and sure he knocked it a tooth out and it was ok after that, if I remember right anyway.

RE: 11mm problems - Jenkosowls - 07-01-2014

If he wants it stripping and checking let me know. Got Chris's to build yet

RE: 11mm problems - Ruan - 07-01-2014

Should never require the belt slipping... Some thing is seriously up if you have to...

Didn't you have to run your pump fully advanced on the nanstone? Due to having diesel knock if it wasn't? Did you ever sort that? (ignore if I'm talking crap & and sorry for thread hijack)

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 07-01-2014

I was going to take the top off and have a look see what the internals look like, it took Lewis 4 weeks to recieve and had a pipe on the inlet going to the outlet guessing so no diesel leaked?, but there was no diesel in it

Didn't want to take it to bits until Lewis spoke to the seller don't want them turning round saying it was fine and I must have done something to it bla bla

RE: 11mm problems - strictly_perv - 07-01-2014

The pump came straight off a running daily driver, I can't be ducked surely?
I did not build the pump, but I've had it on 2 cars without any issues. Feel free to PM me.
Regards to the dispatch I received full payement on the 18th as the money I received took the PayPal charges, I sent it on the 29th I believe, to be delivered for Thursday 2nd on Jan. late dispatch I know but I had apologised for that.

RE: 11mm problems - Tom - 07-01-2014

Vane pump could be seized, doubt it was off sat around for long enough though.

RE: 11mm problems - strictly_perv - 07-01-2014

It was off the car for 2 weeks, fuel was never drained, as said pipes where blocked off and this was done straight away, but the fuel must have slowly drained through the delivery valves.

RE: 11mm problems - adamm306 - 07-01-2014

doubt it would of packed up that quickly i had one in a cardboard box for months with no fuel in and worked fine

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 07-01-2014

Well it's definatley not working now

Had to put the 9mm back on in the end and it runs fine again

Was advised to give it it's own fuel supply out of a clean container with fuel in, it didn't want to pull its own fuel through was spluttering but wouldn't start

RE: 11mm problems - Tom - 07-01-2014

Sounds like vane pump, was it struggling to rev as well? Like the max throttle screw was to far out almost?

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 07-01-2014

Yea clattered like f*ck and engine started shaking like mad when reved

RE: 11mm problems - strictly_perv - 07-01-2014

So it drew enough to be bled then? If it was vane pump then it wouldn't draw at all.
I can't understand how it would work on a car then not work on another car.
Other forum members can vouch this is a working pump which had been on the car fully working up till it was removed when the car was scrapped.
It still sounds like timing to me

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 07-01-2014

It's nothing to do with belt timing had the belt on and off twice to check

It Dosent draw it's own fuel or it would draw it out of a container

It needs lots of help from the grenade and throttle and when it does run it runs like shit

RE: 11mm problems - Teddy - 07-01-2014

i had a problem with my 11mm pump knocked liked f*cked and loads off white smoke it matched up to tdc so ran it a tooth out on pump and was fine after that all problems went

RE: 11mm problems - LewisG306 - 07-01-2014

That was pretty much what mine was running like last night^^^^ ,
Loads of knock , lumpy running and lots of white smoke.

Really dissapointed to be honest but what can I do?

RE: 11mm problems - Tom - 07-01-2014

Changing the timing wont make it suck its own fuel though surely? Did it run better as you pumped the grenade?

RE: 11mm problems - LewisG306 - 08-01-2014

Didn't really run much better with pumping the grenade no , still ran like utter shite

RE: 11mm problems - Teddy - 08-01-2014

It's was timing on mine was to advanced not firing right

RE: 11mm problems - Danny2009 - 08-01-2014

Didn't really try pumping the grenade when it was running shouldn't need to really

Wierd how it won't start out of a can my 11mm did ........

Mine needed a lot of advance to make it perform OK - but then it had a turbo that only came on song past ~3200rpm... So needed a lot to help, and also that belt has been used many times - it's probably a bit stretched!!

But yeah, sounds like siezed vane pump to me sadly Sad
