RE: The Astor....Back on the road again - 7057sam - 20-05-2015 Ok little bit of a update The bodged up decat split in half the other day so went round bash's to get it welded up. He did a great job and even let me do some welded So running really well at the moment even been using it as a daily this week.Done 315 miles for 50 pound so ok not the 45mpg the focus gets but still pretty good. RE: The Astor....Back on the road again - 7057sam - 30-05-2015 So give the astor a clean before we head down to Kent tomorrow to do the rolling road [attachment=23498][attachment=23499] The question what's it going to make ?? Power mods are Decat,Magnex cat back, rich w flywheel, alloy pulley,K&N induction RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Toms306 - 30-05-2015 Good luck. 179bhp I guess. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Dum-Dum - 30-05-2015 155bhp. S16 power RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Eeyore - 30-05-2015 162hp RE: The Astor....What's she going make - adam b - 31-05-2015 None of your modifications will really make you gain power, you might have lost some mid range if anything. Depending on the dyno and the cam timing anything between 162 and 172 is good, torque 142 -155 RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Piggy - 31-05-2015 low torque I rekon by the mods, so 140ish but they make healthy bhp top end standard so 173bhp RE: The Astor....What's she going make - 7057sam - 01-06-2015 Well it only made 167.7 but looking back on it I'm pretty happy to retain its standard power and the mods are all breather so it's standard untouched engine essentially [attachment=23504] https://youtu.be/wEp98NKcqME [attachment=23505] [attachment=23507] Would be intestine to see matt or zakk's printouts aswell just to see how much toque I lost though the decat RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Frosty - 01-06-2015 I would say thats a decent result, seems to be pretty accurate. Looks like a very clean dyno set up, Cant imagine that would want to many smokey dervs in there RE: The Astor....What's she going make - 7057sam - 01-06-2015 (01-06-2015, 12:36 PM)Frosty Wrote: I would say thats a decent result, seems to be pretty accurate. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Piggy - 01-06-2015 a 40bhp trans loss!? RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Stef205 - 01-06-2015 40bhp is about right my 205 was the same. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - adam b - 01-06-2015 You are looking at it wrong piggy. It's a maha dyno not a hub dyno and as such measures coast down figures rather than guessing at the fly figure using crappy maths. Just seems quite high. Mine was calculated at 12bhp loss using coast down figures! RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Frosty - 01-06-2015 The dyno that a few of us from down here use at tipton seems to be about 20% lose from the flyweheel figure to the wheel figure RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Toms306 - 01-06-2015 12hp loss seems far too low tbh James, we had a couple of dyno days at college and losses were mostly around 20-30hp for 'normal' cars. (Golfs, Saxos, Clios etc). Was a Mini there with 40bhp ATF and 20bhp losses which was a laugh. Golf 130TDi had about 25bhp loss iirc. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Piggy - 01-06-2015 exactly my argument with "flywheel figures" My at the wheel figure was 206bhp.... but 218bhp at the "fly" by coast down figures! RE: The Astor....What's she going make - ozonehostile - 01-06-2015 I don't have a picture of my gti6 graph on my phone but I'll upload it when I'm next on the laptop. Id quite like to see the side by side cat and decat graph RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Stef205 - 01-06-2015 (01-06-2015, 05:10 PM)Frosty Wrote: The dyno that a few of us from down here use at tipton seems to be about 20% lose from the flyweheel figure to the wheel figure Mine was done at Tipton a few years ago and was 40bhp loss RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Toms306 - 01-06-2015 (01-06-2015, 05:30 PM)Piggy Wrote: exactly my argument with "flywheel figures" Would be much better if everyone (inc manufacturers!) used ATW figures tbh, still not perfect but much closer than anything 'guessed' ATF. No point comparing dyno figures either. Anyway I'd check your cam timing as the torque figure is pretty low. If it's not been skimmed you'll have more out of that car yet - speak to welshpug about it at Pugfest or fcs. Decat doesn't hurt it that much. Must get my car on our dyno in work! RE: The Astor....What's she going make - welshpug - 01-06-2015 torque does look a bit low, is that 166nm? peak rpm of power and torque is a bit high which typically incucates slightly retarded cam timing, power should peak at 6500 iirc. bring the cam timing forwards will bring up peak torque. im not convinced at all with the figures from hereford, decent looking setup but difficult looking to replicate the results given. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Piggy - 02-06-2015 wasnt Matts black rallye 165bhp at the wheels!? And his is high mileage, very little care for the engine! Of course you're not...what would a post from welshpug be without picking on something and thinking you know better?! RE: The Astor....What's she going make - adam b - 02-06-2015 It's because he is usually right. Hate to say it Just always comes across as lacking tact, our Meirion... RE: The Astor....What's she going make - welshpug - 02-06-2015 I didn't suggest in any way that I knew better but I.m.e there really shouldnt have been that wild a variation in figures especially with "standard" engines. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Orta - 02-06-2015 Decent result Sam, left u wanting more though? Better than my rallye's last go on the dyno with the faulty lambda sensor anyway! And his is high mileage, very little care for the engine! TBH with these XU10s i see a lot of varying figures for standard engines regardless of milage or care. It could be just a coincidence and its different dynos or it could be they are just the sort of engine that is pretty hard against abuse and age/mileage related damage. RE: The Astor....What's she going make - Dum-Dum - 02-06-2015 You can only compare results from different dynos by the shape of the curve Fast ford did a test where they drove round 5 different dynos in an afternoon (so the car was the same, same condition, same weather etc) and there was about a 10% difference between the highest and lowest. But Ozones was there and was a good figure. And then there must have been 30 odd other cars, quite a few standard, different engines and marks and they all did as expected, including a new fiesta st and clio sport which both were bob on the money |
