12mm head?? - Piggy - 21-12-2013

Is anyone aware of a 12mm head that would fit the bosch?

Heres my thinking:

IF, and its a big IF, I use the gt2559vnt on the 2.1 then I am guna need a decent clutch to start with...

But peeps use 11mms on 1.9s...I have a 2.1

1905cc up to 2088cc is about a 9.6% increase in capacity... 11mm x 9.6% is just over 12mm

so I'm wondering if it could be beneficial?

Pointless as you need modified levers to get any more fuel out the 12mm without serious issues due to the different spill port location, and if you do that, you can get the same quantity of fuel out of an 11mm with half the issues. 11mm is more than good enough to support 250hp... If you sort the levers.

Take a look at the levers and see what you could adjust to give more fuel for a given throttle input...

external or internal?

On the levers... And go look at different sets of levers and see what they change..

^this. Rip a pump apart (better if it's scrap) and just play around with the various components. It certainly changed my viewpoint from knowing what to do to knowing why you do it.

Cool I got one for the nad anyway so will do...

As said 11mm will suffice. The 205 with 190bhp had plenty ore fuel to give with that old 11mm.
I'd get it on then see what needs manning up to get the most out of it.

i know someone that runs a 12mm . . . . doubt he'll help you though . .Big Grin

RE: 12mm head?? - padge - 21-12-2013

doubt its a 12mm matt, the bloke that builds our pumps dosent even know how to do a gov mod or what one even is, so doubt he can modify levers etc to make a 12mm run

RE: 12mm head?? - Mal - 22-12-2013

It's all about the pivot point......

Why not source out a 13.5mm head Wink

RE: 12mm head?? - Dave - 22-12-2013

Also, 12mm head delivers a hell of alot more fuel, it's not done in a linear form you have to multiply the area of 4.5mm radius area for 9mm, 5.5mm for 11mm and 6mm*r2 for 12mm in perfect reality. This gives chronic fuel when you don't need it, and quick injection durations. It's only useful when you need to sustain Rediculous fuel at 6k+ due to a larger fuel window into the high pressure head, it's just not needed for anything below that 11mm is fine, not to mention it'll destroy the timing of the pump. Give it a whirl though they sound "deeper" but will find an 11mm will yield better performance.

Nice info Dave

That badly... It had obtained a big bomb to extract the piston of 11mm, but this one, it has piston of 12mm. Well-read this thread, I see that 12mm it gives headaches, better to look for one of 11mm..'
