9mm to 11mm conversion? - 306pc - 16-12-2013

Is it possible to convert a 9mm pump to an 11mm? If so what needs to be done? And can anyone on here do the work? (I know you clever boys can) It should just be the head that needs work yes? If so I could post it out. I have a spare pump and would like to see what difference 11mm makes. I have a T25 hybrid turbo on and fancy a bit more power.

Cheers. PC.

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Paul_13 - 17-12-2013

There's a thread on how to do it in the guides section

I know him. He did swap my pump, and turbo swap, that was me asking him to do this aswell.

Thanks but I would definitely break it.

Set aside a long afternoon and some patience and its not too tricky.
Great satisfaction too!

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - 306pc - 17-12-2013

Read the guide, I'd end up with a Bosch jigsaw. Ill let someone else do it I think.

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Dave - 17-12-2013

If you need the car, get someone else to do it.

Nothing more frustrating than putting a pump all back on the car and it just not firing up due to a heap of issues with the pump internals.
Not to discourage, its simple with it off the car but takes time if you've never done it before, and can waste alot of time to find out its not right.

But, if you have a spare lucas, get the tools out my friend Big Grin

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - 306pc - 18-12-2013

Just gonna buy one done I think. Anyone?

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Tom - 18-12-2013

Is there a thread where people actually talk about the differences from the drivers seat as such? People just say oh its way better but thats it.

Just get Jenks to build you one Wink

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Danny2009 - 18-12-2013

But for jenks to build one he needs the 9mm and 11mm be easier to buy one so your not with out a car

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - 306pc - 19-12-2013

^^ exactly. For a few quid I stay out of the wife's car, sell one of my 9mm's and get a hike in power. I'm sure my new turbo needs extra guts to get the best out of it. I'm going to loomsys t'mo just on the off chance but ill prob wait till I see one on here.

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Mal - 19-12-2013

Tis dead handy, grab a seal kit and a 414 pump. Gov mod it too while the head is being changed. Use your own delivery valves. Or some Teranno ones if you can find a set Wink I think they're a 10mm head too....

I'll throw up pics if you want

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Jenkosowls - 19-12-2013

You've already got a 9mm spare already got the seal kit on order pump will be cheap from looms so itl be a cheap enough conversion with out loss of a car. Either way let me know just before Christmas and into the new year I may end up getting busy

Think it gets chatted about but not in its own thread.

Essentially, for me, it gives a more sensitive throttle and response and makes 100% throttle something that isnt needed quite so often. Also requires a lighter touch as 20/30% too much and you just coal everyone constantly..but match it with a good turbo and control it well and my word its good.I know thats all very basic terms but its a starting point.

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - padge - 20-12-2013

im sure Darren ran a 12mm few years back and it wouldn't run correctly?

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Ruan - 20-12-2013

12mm is a different kettle of fish, most have a different spill port location, you then need modified levers, but even that's a whore to set up...

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - padge - 20-12-2013

11mm is more than enough for big turbos imo, don't know what the fuss is about smoke, as most people have said, control it with your right foot, easy peasy.

RE: 9mm to 11mm conversion? - Teddy - 20-12-2013

if ur after a 11mm pump lad my cousin selling to 414 pump off a landy wants £60 each

an engine....

9mm if you want up to 150ish bhp, 10mm will give a bit more, 11m a bit more again

11mm fo sho

no reason not to, for the extra midrange oomph and torque

and you'll find the ability to coal people who tailgate, extremely useful

absolutely not
