N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Grant - 18-11-2013 So im a bit stumped with this. My N/S brake/side lights will not work. I have changed the bulbs, and plugged the cluster into the O/S to check it is working, and it is. The indicator and reverse lights work. Could it be an earth problem? It's obviously ( i assume) not going to be the switch as the O/S works. Cheers N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - rocker8742 - 18-11-2013 Checked the cables on that side for voltage? RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Grant - 18-11-2013 Yep. There's voltage getting to the reverse/indicator but everything else is dead as a do-do. I have also cleaned up the earth for the lights at the back where the 'c' pillar is. I cannot see it being this though as my batteries are earthed here... N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - rocker8742 - 18-11-2013 Don't know what would cause it apart from a break in the cable.. Maybe just run a cable over from the OS? RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Grant - 18-11-2013 Yeah, I would rather not, finding the cause of the problem would be ideal. Worst case scenario, you're right, I'll do that. Does it sound like an earth problem? RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Toms306 - 18-11-2013 The light loom does run across from the OS to NS anyway iirc? If so, check for continuity between the two plugs, will prove if its a broken wire. If it was an earth fault you'd usually get problems with all the lights on the cluster as they're all earthed the same place. Re: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - rocker8742 - 18-11-2013 They're linked on phase 2/3 i think Tom so that'd be a good place to start RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Jimbo - 18-11-2013 Sounds like a fuse RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Grant - 18-11-2013 Why would it be a fuse if the n/s is fed from the o/s? Neither would work... RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Jimbo - 18-11-2013 There still fused seperatly I had a fuse go on an estate and only one side went out. Could be diff on a hatch. Just an idea no need to get like that RE: N/S Brake lights/Side Lights not working - Grant - 18-11-2013 Oh really? I'll have a look. Cheers |
