Turbo position repeat valve - Daniel306 - 14-11-2013

Iv got a fault code on a 307 saying "turbo position repeat valve too open", PP says its at 26-28% from what i can find it should be at 11%?


Can anyone tell me what the job of this valve is and can it be cleaned/repaired/calibrated?

That's the electronically actuated wastegate I believe. Will use a sensor and actuator to open the wastegate to the right amount.

'Too open' must mean either the wastegate is stuck open slightly, or the sensor thinks it is, which is the more likely option tbh. Due to it's location, the sensor shouldn't get dirty so I'm not sure if theres any way of fixing it. Probably doesn't cost much for a new one though, but access might be tight.

They need special equipment to set up and shim to the correct value from what iv been reading. Looks like it's easier/cheeper to replace the turbo as a complete unit for a good 2nd hand one

Its a Vnt turbo, if the sensor is fine and ita just sticky on the vnt mechanism that could be cleaned without needing the sensor recalibrate?

Its a VNT?? In that case it won't need a wastegate, they just open the vanes wide to avoid overboosting. Which size engine is it?

DW10BTED4 / RHR 136 PS (134 hp/100 kW)

Its a 2.0 16v Hdi, the thing i can workout is dose the repeat sensor need calibrated to the diaphragm or is it the rod length between the vanes and diaphragm? Im thinking its the first as im reading that it needs shims so that suggest's that i could change the complete actuator+sensor without removing the turbo?

Ah I see, its a slightly different system on them than I'm used to on VNT control so Im not totally sure about this.

As far as I know though, the sensor itself is just a sensor and doesn't require any setup, the sensor 'stalk' just sits on the diaphragm so it cant be adjusted. I think the shimming thing is for if you purchased the sensor and actuator together, but you'd need specialist equipment to set that up properly. You can change the sensor alone without removing the turbo, its only 3 screws. You can also change the actuator without removing the turbo if theres enough access, but as said that'd have to be setup after.

Prices are about 160 for a 2nd hand turbo, 160 for the complete actuator new or 300 for a new complete turbo
