Van Options - silverzx - 13-11-2013

I like the idea of having a van with a fairly simple Bosch/TD04L XUD in.

Whats the one to look for in terms of spec/simplicity of engine change?

I have a donor phase 1 D8A 306DTurbo with a T2 & bosch already on.

Berlingo?
Partner?

Any engine thats easiest to swap from (for speedo, rev counter etc)?

RE: Van Options - Mattcheese31 - 13-11-2013

old Dispatch . . . had a 1.9 nad in it i believe . .Smile

RE: Van Options - silverzx - 13-11-2013

Just to clarify it doesn't have to be a massive van. Hence why I thought Berlingo/Partner would be a good choice. Much like the 306oc support wagon IIRC!?

RE: Van Options - Jonny81191 - 13-11-2013

XUD NAD was a stock engine in the partner, common as muck and it's already got the correct engine mounts and loom.

RE: Van Options - Poodle - 13-11-2013

TU engined berlingo, cheap as chips because nobody wants them lol.

Re: Van Options - Pete - 13-11-2013

A low and boosted Citroen c15 would be win.

RE: Van Options - Dum-Dum - 13-11-2013

Nah you want an ldv pilot, rwd ftmfw.

RE: Van Options - silverzx - 13-11-2013

This is the sort of thing I was thinking...

Why have you not bought it already?

Wasn't expecting to dish out £200 on ARP studs this month..

RE: Van Options - Jonny81191 - 13-11-2013

Er, bargain much?

Especially as you'll be ditching the engine.

Get it bought!!

RE: Van Options - silverzx - 13-11-2013

Theres no contact number so I've emailed them mine.

RE: Van Options - mr_fish - 13-11-2013

If I hadn't of put the XUD in the 206, I would of liked to put one in a Partner. High boosted LCV Wink

Whos keen to help me swap the 1.9TD in then? Big Grin

He said it smokes white constantly, he's been told its an injector problem.

just needs a good old fashion drive around the block....at high rpm...

Or a 75 miles / 2 hour 20 minute A/B road bash all the way home. Tongue

Not that it matters as the 1.9TD lump would be going in!

What suspension do these use? Same strut assembly as a 306?

Torsion bar on the rear?

RE: Van Options - puglove - 13-11-2013

Need i say any more trent???? get on it!!!

RE: Van Options - Jenkosowls - 13-11-2013

Front end is 306 suspension on a Zx estates chassis it's around an inch narrower at strut tops. Uses 405/206 style rear beam. Fair few bits need swooping from the 306 to make it fit

Van Options - Sambarker - 13-11-2013

305 van would be win

RE: Van Options - itone24 - 13-11-2013

I hope this turns into a project thread!

RE: Van Options - welshpug - 13-11-2013

it literally IS a 405 rear beam on these, as is the Xsara picasso...

front end as mentioned from bulkhead forwards is all 306.

engine wise it'll drop straight in.

RE: Van Options - silverzx - 14-11-2013

Decided to give this van a miss.

- 100 miles / 2:20 hour away.
- Long list of MOT advisories from last year.
- Higher tax bracket (£215 year despite being 51 plate)
- Zero service history (bar the clutch/gearbox reciept which is worthless)
- Struggling to find a lift.

Turns out a friend of mines father just scrapped a mint Berlingo for £120 that he's owned for 12 years, gutted I missed it!

I'll keep an eye out locally but for now this is going under the carpet.. Sad

RE: Van Options - me-tm - 14-11-2013

I still like the idea of a Dispatch with a high-boost XUD in it. Big Grin
