Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 11-11-2013 Hi, I'm looking for a set of front gti6 lowering springs or coilovers. Only need the front as I'm still on a standard dturbo rear beam. What have people got? Cheers RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - puglove - 11-11-2013 If you have a 1.9 dturbo engine in your car you dont want gti lowering springs as it wont actually lower due to the XUD being lighter than the gti RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 11-11-2013 What would I need? Adjustable coilovers? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - puglove - 12-11-2013 1.9xud / hdi springs lol or coilovers You can use gti shocks though if you go for springs RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 But surely the gti 6 front suspension is different to that of a dturbo, so dturbo springs won't fit? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - puglove - 12-11-2013 No its all the same sizes/fittings . Just different weight rateings. So for example you want gti shocks with 1.9xud lowering springs. And it will all fit together RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 aright okay, im sure ive already got gti shocks on it considering its a full front end gti6 job, brakes and suspension, would a set of dtrubo coilovers fit on it aswell? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - Jonny81191 - 12-11-2013 I have a set of 60mm lowering springs for sale if you're interested? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 sorry, dont really wanna drop it that much, 40mm max, with the roads like they are where i live i would be scraping everywhere RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - Jonny81191 - 12-11-2013 That's what i thought at first, but i think you'd find they were fine. RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 nah sorry mate, looking for a set of 35mm - 40mm really RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - paul7278 - 12-11-2013 I put 40mm in my dturbo and I think it didnt look much different. Now got 60mm with 7.5j 15 pro race and no scrubbing on nasty corrnish roads.lol RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - puglove - 12-11-2013 this is 40mm :/ (kezzie's hdi stolen from google) RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - Jonny81191 - 12-11-2013 ![]() RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 is that 40mm on the back aswell, that looks about how low mine is at the mo on the front. well im gonna try and get hold of a front splitter tomorrow and after thats fitted, see how much clearance ive got. love the meme btw ![]() RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - puglove - 12-11-2013 Pffft what do you want clearance for? ![]() RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 haha, well i dont know about you, but these cornish roads are hellish bumpy. so would you recomend 60mm springs then? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - Jimbo - 12-11-2013 (12-11-2013, 07:16 PM)puglove Wrote: Pffft what do you want clearance for? Puglove thats clearly........ Fake lows ![]() RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 any recomendations on what brand of springs to get? or where to get them from? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - puglove - 12-11-2013 For 60mm Gmaxx are used ALOT by 306 owners and iv never heard any bad feed back. for 40mm id say spax/PI iv personaly usd spax springs in the past and they were ok RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 right on, i'll look into it, got to make sure i can get the back end sorted first RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 On a completely different subject, was thinking of painting my calipers and drums but unsure what colour would suit the colour of my car, was thinking common red or a nice metallic black. Thoughts? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - Frosty - 12-11-2013 I had the same forts as you with the car being to low and scrubbing as I live in the country side. I had some springs that were meant to be 40mm but they only lowered it about 25mm. I have now got some 60mm that seem to have lowered the front about 50mm and I think there near perfect for looks and I haven't had any ground clearance issues. As for painting calipers and drums in my opinion you can never go wrong with red. I dunno what paint you plan on using but I always use hammerite and have never had any problems RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 Aright, will probs go for around 50-60mm then. Yeah ive always liked the look of red callipers, but was unsure if it would match the colour if my car (nile blue). And yeah just some heat roof paint from halfords or as you said Hammerite. RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - daniel909 - 12-11-2013 No point in going 40mm boi just as well go 60mm looks a lot better RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 12-11-2013 What are the springs on your 1.4? RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - daniel909 - 12-11-2013 60mm I don't grind out RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 13-11-2013 Aright, spose I'll have to go 60mm then ![]() RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - Jonny81191 - 13-11-2013 (13-11-2013, 07:52 AM)willJspears Wrote: Aright, spose I'll have to go 60mm then I still have those springs for sale ![]() RE: Gti6 lowering springs/coilovers - willJspears - 13-11-2013 How much do you want for them?
