New fiesta - Niall - 28-02-2012

Anyone driven one?
I've just seen the ad for it on tv with the keyless entry and start and have just realised a potential floor. Do you reckon if the key goes out of range whilst it's running, it stops?
Be quality if it didn't. If you wanted to nick one, could just wait till the owner walks near it to get in then just jump in quickly and off ya go. Only good for a joyride!

Re: New fiesta - Jenkosowls - 28-02-2012

This was my thoughts. Ford do seem to overlook these things!

The car should keep driving without the key. But once the engine is turned off then it shouldn't start back up with out the key.

But it is something that could off been overlooked.

Re: New fiesta - Fooby - 28-02-2012

I might swap my current hire car out and get one of these... then we can test it and see what happens Big Grin

Do it! Only courtesy cars I can have are skodas Sad
Still might have a XF to roll down to the camping meet in. Or a range rover Big Grin

Re: New fiesta - Grant - 28-02-2012

If its anything like my dads old laguna, you can drive it without the key 'till the cows come home as long as you don't turn the engine off

deal

althought it will probably make me sad..

Can lease one for like £500pcm with maintenance. Just waiting on work to see if they'll offer me a proper company car, then i'll take the monthly contributions and get myself a XF

Re: New fiesta - Niall - 28-02-2012

I'd love one for my self. We have a few at work for pool cars for management (why I don't know as they all have their own company cars anyway....) so I'm going to try and borrow one as driving the skoda down to Cornwall will be gay!
Want a xfr just for the noise!

Re: New fiesta - Connor - 28-02-2012

Was just pointing it out, I like them myself

Re: New fiesta - Jake - 28-02-2012

Mum has one, look alright, sucks to drive apparently.

Exactly I don't understand it my self. I don't know if it's because they are going to use them to replace the passat pool cars that we have that are coming up to 3 years old and just giving the managers a chance to play around with them!

We are going to be getting a choice of car soon apparently and my skoda is up in November so will see wht I can get. Think I'm quite limited though Sad

New fiesta - Jonny b - 28-02-2012

We looked at developing an anti hijack/theft system and you are not allowed to shut a car down even if it's been stolen!! f*cked up but the manufacturer would be liable if a scrote stole it then crashed into a house whilst said vehicle was stolen!! You can only stop it from starting again!!

Its only the 1.2 model so will be crap regardless, I will take it up the road (private) if I get chance though and see what its like.

Re: New fiesta - MrsMidnight - 28-02-2012

My dads friend has a company car like this with keyless entry and start / stop button, tested down the road while the key was left in the house and after so far the car cut out and wouldn't start again untill the key was close enough again

Re: New fiesta - Pompey306mark - 29-02-2012

Renaults are different then. You can start it drive off and then turn it off but wont start again until the key is back in range.

Re: New fiesta - samass - 29-02-2012

i like the new fez, my ex has one, a derv mind.
and one of my mates from work has a c30 with keyless start, and if you get more than like 50 away from the key or something, itll cut out. helps prevent carjacking and whatnot. f*ck knows if ford bothered to think about that tho...

Re: New fiesta - Welshy_Pete - 29-02-2012

I rather use a key and fob why when things go wrong and the warrenty gone. These things are going to cost alot of £££ to fix.

All these fancy things are nice but you will end up paying one day for that little gadget.

Re: New fiesta - Connor - 29-02-2012

This isnt new though, the nissan micra had the keyless system yeaaaaaaaaaars ago lol

Re: New fiesta - TheGateKeeper - 29-02-2012

The Astra VXr is keyless aswell Smile
Somebody tried to hi-jack my friends VXr and was trying to grab the keys from the ignition. but because it doesn't have one they were well out of reach!!
