sump plug - treborobert - 24-10-2013

i attempted to carry out a service on my hdi today, only find the sump plug had been partially stripped and would not fully tighten, is there any way of fixing this without changing the sump.
thanks

RE: sump plug - treborobert - 24-10-2013

thanks for the ideas, does any one know what size the plug is?

RE: sump plug - 12h - 25-10-2013

wrap it in ptfe (plumbers tape )

RE: sump plug - Dum-Dum - 27-10-2013

I wouldn't drill and tap the sump in situ, you'll end up with it full of swarfe.

Id use either fuel/oil proof sealant and/or ptfe tape till you can drop the sump and replace it.
