Pretty sure they were a manufacturer thing. Probably optional as they just seem to turn up on cars randomly.

Mainly they're fitted to the late 6s and estates. Likely optional at first then standard on later cars.

I had to order one for the sedan from France. Was about £60 new. I'll see what I have left.and let you know Chris
