Newbie searching for dieselly info - tenwierdufos - 06-10-2013 Hi there. I am not actually a 306 owner i am afriad! I have never had one in my life haha. But i am an ex french car person. I have had a, 1996 1.9td 406 L 1996 2.1 12v td 406 Executive (bosch pump conversion) 1996 1.8 16v Xantia SX 1997 1.9td ZX SX 3 door (and about 20-21 other non PSA cars since i got my first car in 2007!) but i currently have a 1998 BMW 318tds Touring (feel the hate coming down on me) and i am investigating some things to do with it next year and the 306 community always has some good old school diesel tuning knowledge. If i am honest, in perticular i have seen a few things on here relating to a "zx_volcane" (cant send a PM doh!) with an Arduino controlled VNT turbo, and am really wondering if you mind... have you documented anything on that, or would you be happy to share some information on how you did it? Thanks everyone! Hopefully i will bring enough information to you to allow me to take some haha! RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - tenwierdufos - 06-10-2013 Oh also, i am happy to post a build thread as i go along. But, not unless requested seeing how it is probably unwanted on here, it will be a slow build, due to restraints and wanting to get it right, first time and not having the worlds biggest money pit to play in. Also before anyone suggests, nah im not really bothered with a proper bmw forum, i have used them in the past, they arent generally friendly and their answer to everything will be. "Why dont you just buy a 323/325/328/m3" ![]() Hurray for friendliness! RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - Scott - 06-10-2013 Welcome to the forum buddy ![]() ![]() RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - tenwierdufos - 06-10-2013 Thanks man, appreciate it ![]() RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - cully - 07-10-2013 (06-10-2013, 08:51 PM)tenwierdufos Wrote: with an Arduino controlled VNT turbo, ooow theres something thats cought my eye cant say ive read it here but would be a good bit of info if it was done and the software and how to were available here for iether the Aruino or the Raspberry PIE http://dmn.kuulalaakeri.org/vnt-lda/ RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - Piggy - 07-10-2013 zx_volcane runs one with a arduino controlled board. be interesting to see a rwd beemer with a big ass vnt turbo on it RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - zx_volcane - 07-10-2013 Hey, welcome along ![]() Be good to see a project thread, what kind of help are you after? Yes I have an arduino controlling my vnt and water/meth injection system. RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - tenwierdufos - 07-10-2013 Ah yes, the Arduino black magic is some of the information i hope to steal haha. I have found a few bits on info on them on the net but not everything. Dont think you could use a Pi for an application like this? They tend to be better for fancy graphical things. I guess i will get a wee project thread going today and go from there. RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - Piggy - 07-10-2013 maplins now sell the arduino boards and controllers RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - puglove - 07-10-2013 welcome along ![]() cue ruan & darren ............... ![]() RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - zx_volcane - 07-10-2013 I've played with both. You're right, Pi is perfect if you want to build a 1080p internet streaming media centre, but not really suited to this kind of application. As sad as it is to say, I wouldn't recommend going to Maplins, in my experience they're grossly overpriced and unfortunately don't have any tech know how to advise on components ..etc which might warrant the extra £s What you really need is to know someone at a tech college or uni that can order at a reasonable price through parts store for you - let me know when you find someone ![]() RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - tenwierdufos - 07-10-2013 I might be able to order something through work, if i am really lucky and they like me that day haha. We have lots of techie contacts although i dont think we use Arduinos for anything. RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - silverzx - 07-10-2013 Whats wrong with the ones on eGay? RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - tenwierdufos - 07-10-2013 probably nothing ![]() RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - Herby7 - 08-10-2013 Welcome RE: Newbie searching for dieselly info - Eeyore - 08-10-2013 welcome. sounds like an interesting project! good luck! |
