Better my insurance deal - 306Puggy - 23-09-2013 Okay, since I am always reading on this website about people getting insurance at 17 for £1000 pounds per year or something (okay maybe slight sarcasm ![]() Basic details: Driver: 23 (at time of renewnal, 24 one month after) Living in a good postcode area 4 years NCB (would have been five but I had to SORN the car for some time whilst I was at Uni which changed the renewal date from April to October and therefore lost a year of NCB as a result) No pts IAM Advanced Driver Car: Peugeot 306 DT No mods ![]() Best quote from Endsleigh £644.74p Is this good or a rip? Thanks lads. RE: Better my insurance deal - 1616six - 23-09-2013 Doesn't sound terrible, fill the form in, in the traders section & i'll see what I can do? Obviously best to declare your mods though.. RE: Better my insurance deal - Midnightclub - 23-09-2013 I wouldn't exactly say it's good.... I paid £633 mods declared at 21.. with 3 points on the 6 RE: Better my insurance deal - Frosty - 23-09-2013 Seems a bit high compared to what I paid. I'm 21 with 3 years NCB. I paid 676 I think with a lot of mods. That was with Adrain flux with help from Jordan RE: Better my insurance deal - Jonny81191 - 23-09-2013 Seems a little high, try the modified specialist companies and declare the mods. You'll probably find it's cheaper to insure modified anyway. RE: Better my insurance deal - Just Sean - 23-09-2013 I paid 699 4years ncb at 22 with mods declared up to 180bhp for the 6. And that's at a military camp. RE: Better my insurance deal - mr_fish - 23-09-2013 My 206 (ok not a 306 - but still a fair list of modifications) ALL mods declared (including engine change and power increase) £575 with Flux ![]() and I'm 23 RE: Better my insurance deal - Curt - 23-09-2013 It's stupid not to declare mods now when it usually doesn't cost any more/actually costs less. Not worth the risk. I wouldn't say that's very good, so shop around. Brentacre and Greenlight are brilliant. 23, 4 or 5 years NCB (can't remember), 3 points and 5mph bump. £728 all mods declared and covered like for like including audio, with a 230bhp limit. RE: Better my insurance deal - C.A.R. - 23-09-2013 Are you just using online comparison sites? They're only good to get you a 'guide' price, often you can shave another £80-120 off those (from my experience anyhow) Phone Brentacre Phone Flux Phone Chris Knott Phone Prestige (details on the OC website) Whichever 2 are cheapest from that lot play them off against each other. It's frustrating and involves repeating yourself over and over again but it's well worth it if money is at stake. One trick I also found is that I have to pay monthly due to not being a rich bitch. They'll give you a price over the phone for an annual policy in one hit. Ask the other company if they can match the cheapest price by means of a monthly payment setup. It does work, trust me. It's all bullshit anyway. Just be totally honest before you pull the trigger cos most companies will charge a hefty cancellation fee if you've missed something critical. RE: Better my insurance deal - bigcheez2k3 - 23-09-2013 I'd say that's a good price. I paid £850ish in August for a year with mods like engine change, lowered over 60mm, etc I'm 22, 4 years ncd, no points and no claims. Tbf, I did mess up and leave it too late to shop around too much. RE: Better my insurance deal - Piggy - 23-09-2013 850?! thats stupidly expensive. I paid that at 18 for a imported colt gti with mods declared and no ncb!! im 25, 4yrs ncb, all mods declared, 175bhp limit with brentacre for around £400 RE: Better my insurance deal - THE_Liam - 23-09-2013 Not declaring your mods is just daft, especially considering the threads you've posted on a public forum about fitting bigger turbos. Have a crash or even just get stopped by a particularly arsey copper and you'd end up with a lot of unecessary hassle. Doesn't sound like a great deal, 26yr old, band F postcode, 7 years NCB, all mods declared I'm paying £305 fully comp.... RE: Better my insurance deal - Mattcheese31 - 23-09-2013 i'm paying £200 with 4 years ncb, i am a bit older than some of you lads though ![]() RE: Better my insurance deal - 306Puggy - 23-09-2013 Thanks for the replies lads ![]() Chris Nott Brentacre Adrian Flux Greenlight I will add Prestige to that list as well now. Piggy, dont' starting being daft again. The only way to get insurance that cheap at 18 is to front, which I doubt would be that cheap on an import even if you were fronting. Stop trying to wind people up, ta. RE: Better my insurance deal - 1616six - 23-09-2013 Flynn please bare in mind that non declaration of modifications is as good as not bothering with insurance. If you are forking out the upper side of three figures for insurance - Surely you want to spend it on something that is actually going to cover you? You openly state on various threads including pictures of your car that you have alloy wheels, a tuned bosch pump, LDA grind, & what looks to be an uprated turbo in the pipeline? Declaring mods can actually reduce your premium with certain insurers, as some of you have found out speaking to us. Surely that makes it cheaper? I can't imagine there are many thefts there lol..... As for insurance, Admiral are still cheapest for me (with two female named drivers). £450 a year for the Vectra. 21 with 4 NCB. Will go up by £20 if I change to another Golf.... Will go up by £70 if I change to another HDi! ![]() RE: Better my insurance deal - Piggy - 23-09-2013 (23-09-2013, 04:00 PM)306Puggy Wrote: Piggy, dont' starting being daft again. Re: Better my insurance deal - kentiiboii - 23-09-2013 Amazes me how people get these prices. I pay £900 with brentacre im 21 3ncb hdi with mods declared up to 130bhp limit. RE: Better my insurance deal - Piggy - 23-09-2013 ^^^^^^ ![]() you got any points/accidents?? that seems pricey RE: Better my insurance deal - bigcheez2k3 - 23-09-2013 (23-09-2013, 03:27 PM)Piggy Wrote: 850?! thats stupidly expensive. That's the cheapest I've ever had. I think my postcode is rated an E, so one away from being the worst. I paid £144 for the year on that moped with 1 years ncd while I know people who pay £60 for a year on them...hell I know people who pay £98 a year to insure an aircooled beetle ffs. RE: Better my insurance deal - adamm306 - 23-09-2013 postcode is what majorly effects the insurance.. NCB doesnt really make much difference for instance for me its £759 for a 306 DT all mods declared no NCB and a fault accident at 21 and thats with admiral. im sure modified companies could probably beat that to RE: Better my insurance deal - Mattcheese31 - 23-09-2013 (23-09-2013, 06:35 PM)adamm306 Wrote: postcode is what majorly effects the insurance.. RE: Better my insurance deal - Dean - 23-09-2013 i'm paying quite a bit, but there again in 22, with no no claims thanks to the snow :\ but fortunately no points. (touch wood) RE: Better my insurance deal - Stephen - 23-09-2013 I think it goes down alot to where you live tbf I pay about £600 for my dt with all mods declared If i was to swap to my 130 mondeo its a bit cheaper and im 20 I am on a admiral multicar policy with my family though so that helps! Piggy more then likely got that price when he was 18 as, as he said it was 7 years ago! I distinctly remember that. So I am highly sceptical being that he was talking about: 1. An import 2. A GTi 3. Being 18 with no experience But knowning Piggy he's going to claim something-or-a-rather is going to have made it possible ![]() BTW, the way you say "7 years ago" makes me feel old!
