I'm heavily considering chopping the vectra in for an A3 TDI 140 05ish. Probably slightly over budget (I've looked at an 05 plate s line with 106k on it for £3695)

My friends recently bought an 04 a3 and it is nice, think i want to move away from hatchbacks though

Tbh theres not much about for £3k...if you can go to £4k seems to be more about. That might just be around here though.
What do you actually want from the car? MPGs? Looks? Handling? Spec?

I'd have 330d sport just make sure its a 3.0 and 6spd not the 2.9 5spd, they can be found for a smidge over 3k so with a bit of haggling should be in budget.
Had a 320d sport and always regretted not getting a 330 at the time

If you're getting a 3 series (e46 I'm guessing?) I'd go with the 330. However a Hilux is way more win

And ive been looking for a few months now for a car, i honestly dont think i could have purchased somthing better for the purpose it will be used! And its a pug engine, thats enough to keep me happy!

-113k w/Cambelt etc done.
etc etc.
Its a Ghia whatever that means, wont lie id rather be in somthing French, but 307s/c4s are not a viable option.

Ghia is top spec on those too iirc, unless they do Titanium on Focii.

Yeah i know it seems silly putting up this thread when i seem to of already made up my mind, but just wanted other peoples opinions incase there was something i hadnt thought of that i would like! Thanks for the input, yeah oringally i was looking at the 330, but its just quite a lot more on insurance and running costs would prob be more so i think a 320 would do then could always sell it in for a 330 if i wanted to when insurance was a bit cheaper
