So Hot. - 306pc - 24-08-2013 Hi all. I've just returned from a trip to the south coast, a 185m each way journey. Just had new belts and de-cat so was looking forward to a nice drive down. However I noticed the engine was heating up more than usual. It would go past the halfway point without the fan kicking in, while stuck in slow moving traffic. I used the heater on full to lower the temp but it was a pain on hot days to keep blasting hot air into the car. I've had my 306 for over a year and dont think I've ever heard the fan on? I read a bit and understand with the double fan, and air-con, the fan should work with air-con turned on. Tried it. No fan. Looked at what I think was the fan fuse in the engine bay fuse box, looks fine. Any ideas chaps? RE: So Hot. - Tom - 24-08-2013 Check all the relays in the box by the fans. RE: So Hot. - Piggy - 24-08-2013 past halfway.. that over 100?? those relays get real damp...get in there and have a look RE: So Hot. - 306pc - 25-08-2013 Not over 100. Didn't let it get that high. But should work with air-con though at any time. RE: So Hot. - Piggy - 25-08-2013 yeah you are right, should come on with AC. but the other fan should kick in at high temp before that. get into checking wire connections first...theres a big plug in bottom right front corner of engine bay as you look at it, down near air filter housing. get some wd40 on it, twist it off and check its all nice and clean. and then the relays too which sit between the fans RE: So Hot. - 306pc - 25-08-2013 Cheers piggy, I'm on it after work. |
