Need more clutch help. Sorry - Slam Wagon - 22-08-2013 So after having a sach clutch on order with ECP they've just told me it not available. Ordered it 6 weeks ago and after about 10 phone calls to them this week and never a call back they tell me its not available. Piss take. So is there anywhere else i can get a sach friction plate from or what are my other options? I know helix is really heavy and expensive and cg are good to talk to but theyre products have very mixed reviews. Back to square one now and dont know what to do. Help a brother out. Ian RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Just Sean - 22-08-2013 I loved my helix 4 pad. Yeah it was heavy. But felt so good smashing up and down gears. You get used to the weight pretty soon. And the bite of it. I'm sire dum dum is gonna love it too... RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Piggy - 22-08-2013 have a chat with cg. ring them up, tell them what you want. make your own conclusions RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Poodle - 22-08-2013 There are more options out there, most friction/clutch specialists will be able to make you something to order. Or you could aways find an alternative supplier for the sachs unit, theres enough companies that sell them. RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Slam Wagon - 22-08-2013 Ive tried all my local places that deal with sach and none can get it, got a number for sach tech department so ill try them this afternoon and ill speak to cg too. Hopefully going direct will give me some better results RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Slam Wagon - 22-08-2013 Sach tech have said the uprated friction plate wont actually increase the amount of toque that the clutch will take, for that i would need an uprated pressure plate which they dont do. Cg have said pretty much the same but they do do an uprated pressure plate which with the 6 paddle sprung friction plate will cost £400 delivered so double the cost of the sach friction plate. Looks like ill be saving up for a bit longer and going for the cg. And just hoping the bad reviews ive heard arent true. RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Midnightclub - 22-08-2013 Just don't get something with a sprung centre! Tend to snap the springs past 270 lb/ft RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Piggy - 22-08-2013 cg said to me if I just wanted a decent friction plate I could have a dual material one for £80 and the only limiting factor to 200bhp/300ft lbs would be the pressure plate RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Slam Wagon - 22-08-2013 If its not sprung is it not going to be terrible in traffic, im not really up for that. Aparently uprating only the friction plate will only give you a 40% increase in what it can hold. Which wouldnt be enough for 300ft lbs would it? RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Piggy - 22-08-2013 oh right. well the technician at CG must have been lying then. RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Midnightclub - 22-08-2013 I've been in seans HDi, didn't seem bad pulling away tbh.. the down changes are epic with the paddle though.. very smooth RE: Need more clutch help. Sorry - Poodle - 22-08-2013 CG have always promised a lot and delivered little, hence their rep. Have you asked any of the local companies about supplying a custom package to your spec, rather than getting a sachs kit? Edit: yeah Sean's is fine to drive imo, not that much heavier than a knackered standard one. |
