Clicking noise and now wont turn over - HDIkyle - 17-08-2013

Cruising down the M61 and car started making a tappy noise like something was touching a tyre or skipping on the road, pulled over to hard sholder and car was ticking over about 500rpm. Turned it off had a look nothing obvious no belts gone no leaks. Oil pressure was at around 50psi and temp at 90c, engine temps also at around 80c so nothing out the norm.

Now it won't turn over. AA guy tryd to roll it in 4th and said the engines seized. Oils upto the max mark only changed last week.

So what's peoples thoughts? New engine or is it likely to be fixable like a head problem, snapped valve ect

so wont turn over by starter or in gear and push??

sounds like its gone bang...maybe a rod?

Nope won't turn with wheels off floor either. Could a rod go but not come out the block. Was motorway speed so nearly 3k rpm

yeah. could be a bearing spun. or a rod bent and seized.

big shame
