Brake bleeding order - Niall - 18-02-2012

Anyone? I've fitted my gti6 brakes today and having trouble with them. What is the bleeding order on a 306 with 4 wheel abs?

Re: Brake bleeding order - Daniel306 - 18-02-2012

Normally with any car its closest to the Mc and work away

Re: Brake bleeding order - Connor - 18-02-2012

Furthest away from master cylinder, so N/S/R, O/S/R, N/S/F, O/S/F

This is how the Haynes says to do it but who believes that!
Connor I did it in that order. Will retry in the morning.

Re: Brake bleeding order - Connor - 18-02-2012

Wtf seriously? Ive always been tought/told furthest away from the MC

Re: Brake bleeding order - Niall - 18-02-2012

I thought it could be different as the ph3s have the abs pump and iirc there is a one way valve in there.

Re: Brake bleeding order - Daniel306 - 18-02-2012

iv always done it closest first and have never had any problems so far

Re: Brake bleeding order - Jonny b - 18-02-2012

haynes says try both ways ha ha

Re: Brake bleeding order - Ian - 18-02-2012

When I fitted my brembos I done furthest away then worked closer. No problem at all.

Re: Brake bleeding order - 4WayDiablo - 19-02-2012

I was taught on my machanics course at college (agree with connor on this one) ALWAYS furthest first

Re: Brake bleeding order - 4WayDiablo - 25-02-2012

Also kris b says furthest first

Re: Brake bleeding order - Niall - 25-02-2012

Yep it's all bled now. Still having problems due to the f*cked pads I was supplied with. Will have to go and buy some more on payday.

Re: Brake bleeding order - 4WayDiablo - 25-02-2012

Nope. I would only be buying them for how they look. Also don't want to have to space the front wheels

Re: Brake bleeding order - 4WayDiablo - 25-02-2012

For how they look what about the awesome stopping power :-P
Oh yeah 1.8's cant go fast enough to need the stopping power :-P

Re: Brake bleeding order - devils_fuel - 25-02-2012

Furthest from MC I was taught, always done it and no probs Smile. Niall how many miles since the last bleed, might be worth another quick one now the systems settled again Smile

Probs about 250.
It needs new pads. One of them is so f*cked its not even making complete contact with the disc. There's still some surface rust there lol

Re: Brake bleeding order - Ian - 25-02-2012

These the front pads Niall?

Re: Brake bleeding order - Niall - 25-02-2012

Unfortunately so. You must of done some hard driving as they have been over heated at some point haha. Will wack some new pads in soon.

Re: Brake bleeding order - Ian - 25-02-2012

To me at that mileage, i'd have the car on the ramp and give it 1 quick bleed on all 4 calipers for piece of mind Smile. Then in your case I'd change the pads..so new pads and with freshly bleed brakes..Wink

Re: Brake bleeding order - Niall - 25-02-2012

Tbh I don't think there is air in there. I did have problems at first with that but it's all sorted now. Pedal feels good, just doesn't brake as well as it should haha

Re: Brake bleeding order - devils_fuel - 25-02-2012

what the car or the front brakes don't feel like they should? would you need to change the MC because of the calipers ?

Re: Brake bleeding order - Niall - 25-02-2012

Brakes didn't feel right. I did chance the MC as well. All fine now though except the pads.
