Heater glow plugs 306 hdi - Welshy_Pete - 18-02-2012

My 306 hdi starts up fine. Its my first diesel Ive owned. Im used to changing the plugs and leads etc. But when do the heater glow plugs on the 306 hdi need changing?

Tbh you could probably get away with ignoring them altogether, the engine barely uses them.

I never wait for the the glowplug light on my HDi, just turn the key straight round lol

they only need to work near freezing temperatures

look just underneath the injector loom for the plastic cable wrap, under each of those nuts is the glow plugs. don't loose the nuts unless the new plugs come with new nuts, done that before on an xud and had to loosen the pump off to rescue it with a magnet

I've started my HDi first time at -6 with no power to the plugs, cranked twice and fired as normal, so quite when the engine is meant to need them i'm not sure lol.
