cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 my fans dont work basicly. what should i be looking for. been trying to get my head around some post ive read but dont quite understand what they are on about. it a ph3 1.6 with a/c. cooling isues - Matt - 17-02-2012 Same issue, is yours low? Could be the fan wiring loom, or check in the pass arch little black box that conrolls them, also the brown sensor. Check any of these. I also have a shit fan issue and am Trying everything to sort it ASAP Re: cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 where is the brown sensor? had a mate have a look and he said it was a corroded plug or summat but cause the engine was still at boiling point then couldnt get his hand down to have a look. never been back to see him. thought it might be summat i could do myself. cooling isues - Matt - 17-02-2012 Yours is a 1.6? You might not have the brown sensor like my xsi. Looking under my car looks like my wiring could be completly chewed up :/ not good, but could just be the casing on it. Need to jack it and have alook. And Niall has sent me a replace box thingy lol so will change that and see if it solves my issue Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 17-02-2012 Got air con? Might be able to brigde a plug too see what may be wrong cooling isues - Matt - 17-02-2012 I has air con. And I know my fans work, just got to find out why they dont come on Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 17-02-2012 Haha fair enough was talking to kingy just reread it and you have ac.. there is a brown iirc plug behind the pass light bidge it and it turns the ac button in the cab to a fan switxh. Youll lose your ac though. Most dont work anyway Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 17-02-2012 just bridge pins 1 & 2 on the pressure sensing valve by your washer bottle, this will turn your fans on at low speed when you press the aircon button but will raise the engine tickover speed slightly, alternatively bridge pins 1 & 4 (i think) and that will turn the fans on at high speed when the aircon button is pressed Re: cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 is it best to have it on low speed or high speed. yeah, your right, my aircon is fooked. if your to hot then wind the window down. edit, thanks by the way. getting use to this edit thingy. do you use just normal spade conectors? Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 17-02-2012 Yes babes :-) haha just whatever fits. We done it to jimmys old 6 on the new forest pug run with a bit of wire As for speed i guess its down to personal choice can always turn it off for a bit if its too high but you cant turn up if its on low You can rep me when we get it :-P Re: cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 will be on this first thing tomoz. rep coming right your way mate, errrrrm when it finaly arrives. will let you know how this goes. matt.. just wondering if their is any reason why your not doing this? cooling isues - Matt - 17-02-2012 I did it. Didn't like it. I think ( probably not) it messed my heater up though. Alot of people have done it. Also only do it if your air con doesn't work anyway Re: cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 yeah its pretty much dead. will try it and if it works then i will run it like that till summat breaks or i can find out what the problem is. thanks for your help. Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 17-02-2012 Not a problem but yeah as mentioned just make sure your ac isnt working lol Not heard it messing up though Re: cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 you say NOT WORKING, by this i guess you mean it blows out warm air, thats pretty much the case. what would happen if it still works? Re: cooling isues - Niall - 17-02-2012 If it works, when you press the AC button, the revs might climb slightly and you will hear a click from the engine bay as the compressor clutch kicks in. Re: cooling isues - kingy - 17-02-2012 nothing thats going to blow my car up then lol Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 18-02-2012 not afaik :-) Re: cooling isues - kingy - 18-02-2012 really should go out and try this but just realized ive got no wire, how sad is that. so that means a trip to the scrappy and it fuuckin freezzin here, maybe another cup of tea. cooling isues - Matt - 18-02-2012 No wire atall? Mines just an old bit of speaker wire Re: cooling isues - kingy - 18-02-2012 got loads of that, infact i could strip some out of some extension cable, that would still work wun it. cooling isues - Matt - 18-02-2012 Works with any bit of wire, just ensure its stripped and will bit in the pin holes on the plug, once it's in there maybe stick abit of tape over the too though. Stop water etc getting in there and will keep the wire in place Re: cooling isues - kingy - 18-02-2012 i was wondering about this if i was to use it as a long turn fix. what would you recomend matt, high speed or low speed? cooling isues - Matt - 18-02-2012 Depends how hot, at the moment low speed should be enough as its quite cold out, but in the summer definatley high speed. Could always do the low speed, if the engine still gets hot, then swap it too the high speed. As the only difference is a pin it's a nice and easy job to do. Re: cooling isues - kingy - 18-02-2012 see, if i was still on .net i would have had to pay £6 to read the bible to get this help. BIG UP THE OC MASSIVE. seriously though, cheers guys. finish me brew and will go and face the cold. and boy is it cold. cooling isues - Matt - 18-02-2012 Serious mate, it's a 5 min job, take your brew with you haha Re: cooling isues - kingy - 18-02-2012 done it. found and stripped some wire, bridged 1 and 2, started her up and f*ck me, the fans are spinning for the first time in nearly 2 years. taped it up and tryed it again and still working. sods law that we fixed it on one of the coldest days lol. thanks alot you guys. rep noted and coming your way when it finaly gets here. time for another brew then back in my shed to sort out my splitter. im in the mood to fix things now.    Re: cooling isues - 4WayDiablo - 18-02-2012 Not a problem mate :-) its what we are here for :-) glad it worked :-) cooling isues - Matt - 18-02-2012 Ahhh good stuff mate, to be fair I might just do this mod again lol Re: cooling isues - stevieg - 18-02-2012 unplug the compressor clutch from the A/C compressor as one day you may find its seized up and will shred the belt |
