Suddenly developed a grinding noise from what seems to be the front drivers side tonight, I pulled in immediately and realised it wasn't engine related so drove on home. Its in any gear and speed it seems, any ideas?

also noticed when starting/ stopping the car I'm getting a clonk, guessing one of the engine mounts as I am also getting it when changing gear at low speeds. Which ones it likely to be?

Lower mount would be my guess, I'd check the fork bush as well.

You mean it would cause the grinding noise too? and by fork bush you mean the lower mount fork?

You all ready for good laugh?

the 'grinding' noise was indeed a large twig from when my dad cut the hedge the other day, wedged under the car between the wishbone and the wheel.

Fail.
