What could have caused this? - Check30 - 18-07-2013 So just took my timing cover off because of a wurrin noise and found the the belt had been rubbing against the cover and shredded the belt any idea how his could of happened? When you put a new belt on obviously check for play in the tensioner and idler but check that the new belt tracks ok for a few mins with the cover off RE: What could have caused this? - bigcheez2k3 - 19-07-2013 Mine did this when the bearings went on the water pump.
