Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - ginge191 - 18-07-2013

Firstly, i've already pm'd Ripp, whether he's busy or something, i don't know, it's no bother!

Basically, 205 wishbones are expensive, shit, and generally pointless.

I found some on the bay which have a better design ; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-205-309-GTI-Rose-Jointed-Suspension-Bottom-Arms-/230312426964?hash=item359fb0bdd4

what i want to take from this design is the ability to remove the ball joint and replace as and when.

Who would be a good contact to speak to regarding crafting one of these? I obviously don't fancy paying out £500 for a pair, but being able to use perhaps the same balljoints as the 306 etc. would be handy.

yep; still, £250 as a starting bid is still HUGE Sad

RE: Cusotom wishbones; who to speak to? - Scott - 18-07-2013

Probably worth speaking to BakerBM Smile

RE: Cusotom wishbones; who to speak to? - ginge191 - 18-07-2013

dang; i'm sure they were at pugfest as well! Doh

I'll look into them. meyle arn't reputated well?

RE: Cusotom wishbones; who to speak to? - Matt - 18-07-2013

Baker with prob be at fcs too Wink

RE: Cusotom wishbones; who to speak to? - Scott - 18-07-2013

They're okay, but not sure whether they'd make custom ones for you. I've also developed a knocking with mine now as well (similarly to Niall's!) so I'm hoping Meyle wishbones haven't claimed yet another 306 hub...

Baker will be at FCS as well. I need to go have a catch up with him so give me a shout when you're ready to head over and I'll come with Smile

306 wishbones could do with uprating, anyone who has a high powered diesel will tell you that they are not the best for longevity... I f*ck wishbones from Peugeot in probably 12 months...

An uprated design would be so much better if we can have some sort of adjustability... Roller bearings are shit, I don't want to be under my car every week in the snow and wind greasing up the bearings, it's a daily driver... I'm going to have a good think and see if I can try and come up with a design...

Smaller, firmer poly bushes would work well I feel. The standard pug ones have far too much rubber to move around which gets f*cked easily.

Also, "cusotom wishbones"?

Lolz

Let us know if you find anything Ginge, i've been dreading the same and have purchased some polybushes already just in case.

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - ginge191 - 19-07-2013

Yep; shall do; i might post over to the desolate 205 forum and see if anyone there is awake to help out

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - kernow_joe - 19-07-2013

205 forum link

how confident are you feeling?

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - ginge191 - 19-07-2013

Dang! Made for £40!

I wouldn't tackle myself by i could hand the specs to a fabrication company!

Awesome find!

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - Jenkosowls - 19-07-2013

I'd be a bit dubious with the linked wishbones being welded to cast. Ripp can make the 306 tubular rose jointed wishbones I. Fact I know there's some that are half made. The problem you'd be facing is having a set if one off design being made its going to cost money to develop

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - Rippthrough - 19-07-2013

Yeah, sorry, missed the PM, but if £250 is too pricey I think custom made wishbones are out of the question really, unless you do them yourself.
My T45 wishbones are ~500 a set....
I have looked at the 205 ones but more just to make an arm that used stock bushes and took the 306 balljoint, without any adjustment, if that's all your after.

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - ginge191 - 19-07-2013

No worries mate.

Ouch; not even drilling a few holes to adapt a balljoint? Nt an option?

sorry to sort of steal your thread ginge.
These wishbones...fully rosejointed?

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - Rippthrough - 19-07-2013

Rosejointed inner, balljoint outer, adjustable for camber, castor (properly, 3 point bolting system, so no stress on the joints like fixed ones), antidive and antisquat.

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - Niall - 19-07-2013

You realise i hate you now? Im getting a nice cheque for a grand from work soon and you may have just pinched half of it Sad lol

RE: Custom wishbones; who to speak to? - Rippthrough - 19-07-2013
