Ignition live - Matt - 10-07-2013

Wiring up a boost gauge, what wires have you used?

RE: Ignition live - Slam Wagon - 10-07-2013

Taken mine off the fag lighter and switched the fuse over so its ignition live.

RE: Ignition live - Matt - 10-07-2013

Oh really? Would using a live from the CD player work?

Electrics really are not my strong oiint

Re: Ignition live - rocker8742 - 10-07-2013

Could do it of the headlights adjust panel?

RE: Ignition live - ginge191 - 10-07-2013

on the 205 - the cigarette is a constant live.

get a multimeter and test some on the hazard switch

RE: Ignition live - Matt - 10-07-2013

I have no multimeter on me at the moment, the headlight adjust switch has a constant live or ignition live?

Actually doesn't that panel only power up with the headlights?

RE: Ignition live - ginge191 - 10-07-2013

it's going to be hard to find it.

If i said to you find the green wire on the hazard switch, again, a tough thing to find. You'll be shooting in the dark.

What you up to tomorrow?

RE: Ignition live - Matt - 10-07-2013

Unfortunately working all day Sad there is a green wire on the hazard switch?

RE: Ignition live - ginge191 - 10-07-2013

Exactly.

It's hard without testing them Sad

I done mine yesterday on the 205, a couldn't tell you which colour it was Sad

RE: Ignition live - Matt - 10-07-2013

Bollicks. @cully or Niall, got a wiring diagram?

RE: Ignition live - Jonny81191 - 10-07-2013

Took mine from the orange wire on the rheostat, that way it dims if you dim your dash lights. I also added a resistor in line to dim it a bit, matches in much better like that IMO.

RE: Ignition live - Piggy - 10-07-2013

if you have a wire long enough, go from the dash lights dimmer switch, thats what I always do so you can dim the gauge with the rest of ya dash

its the headlight adjuster!

the dash dimmer only has orange wires

RE: Ignition live - Piggy - 11-07-2013

I took my ground from that plug but live from the dimmer

RE: Ignition live - C.A.R. - 11-07-2013

Bloke previous to me had spliced straight into the ignition live and then wrapped bare wire around the clutch pedal for the ground. Don't do this. I was very f*cked off to discover it and it took ages to unravel!
