nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 27-06-2013 Looking to change a few things this yeat and one of the mains are the engine. I got a phase 3 nad and want to drop in a xud. Question is what is needed apart from engine and gearbox???? Thanks Matt RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 27-06-2013 thats it really. if you get a dturbo lump with all the manifolds etc, all should be well. would be worth fitting a fmic while you at it though! RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 27-06-2013 So wpuld i need wiring ?? RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 27-06-2013 not if I recall, looms are same. I cant see what would be different with the loom. you only need a couple of wires for a xud to run! RE: nad to d turbo. - ginge191 - 27-06-2013 Phase 3 NAD? Is this not a NAD hdi? Looms differ perhaps? RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 27-06-2013 Never heard of a nad hdi. Ill take a poc and will post tomorroq RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 28-06-2013 ginge....stop trolling. nad hdi!? since when?! the phase 3 nad is a xud!! RE: nad to d turbo. - ginge191 - 28-06-2013 Serious, no trolling.. I've never touched a phase 3. Nor have I touched a hdi. When I bought mine I was adverts for "Hdi non turbo". I couldn't be bothered looking into it. They're the LX models? RE: nad to d turbo. - mr_fish - 28-06-2013 thought the 1.9 NAD was a DW8? RE: nad to d turbo. - ginge191 - 28-06-2013 wikipedia Wrote:Some base models made use of the DW8 normally aspirated diesel engine. ..... RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 28-06-2013 may have a newer block. buts it identical to look at to the early xud nads and has indirect injection RE: nad to d turbo. - baz306 - 28-06-2013 its a dw8 i have am going to be doing the same thing soon aswell RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 28-06-2013 dw8 block...im sure my ph1 dturbo block is a dw8 RE: nad to d turbo. - Mattcheese31 - 28-06-2013 (28-06-2013, 05:23 PM)Piggy Wrote: dw8 block...im sure my ph1 dturbo block is a dw8 do you mean D8a? . . . RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 29-06-2013 Is there some sort of guide on doing a swap?? RE: nad to d turbo. - pugtk - 30-06-2013 phase 3 is dw8, which i think is semi ecu, conversion should be straight forward RE: nad to d turbo. - darrenjlobb - 30-06-2013 Mark (mr_fish) is right, the ph3 nads are dw8 based IDI, most are fitted with semi ecu lucas injection (ecu controls egr, injection timing, and idle) nad to d turbo. - Sambarker - 30-06-2013 You will need the td front pipe and might be an idea to get bonnet liner if your keeping it tmic RE: nad to d turbo. - Chris - 30-06-2013 IMO I'd recommend doing a hdi swap not a XUD. You'll need the engine, engine loom, engine bay loom, ecu with imob items and preferably the dials too, to do the swap but thats it, probably take a extra 2 hours to change the bay loom but well worth it imo RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 30-06-2013 my mates gota 51 plate nad....bosch pump, no ecu control at all nad to d turbo. - Sambarker - 30-06-2013 (30-06-2013, 01:04 PM)Chris Wrote: IMO I'd recommend doing a hdi swap not a XUD. Why would you need immobiliser stuff? Ruan went from a ph3 gti6 to a dt and that was straight forward enough so going ph3 nad to dt would surely be even easier RE: nad to d turbo. - lolsteve - 30-06-2013 Aren't the dw8 pretty poor engines? Would it be the same principle as the hdi -> xud conversions people have been doing recently RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 01-07-2013 Has anybody done this swap before RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 01-07-2013 Im planning on it with my mates nad pretty soon, and I check it all out and it looks easy peasy. xuds run on a few wires compared to the rats nest on a hdi RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 01-07-2013 Cool. Because i keep on getting mixes reviews and i dont want to buy a engine then being told NO RE: nad to d turbo. - ginge191 - 01-07-2013 (01-07-2013, 06:46 AM)toughmat Wrote: Cool. Because i keep on getting mixes reviews and i dont want to buy a engine then being told NO You'll always get mixed reviews with XUD/HDi engines; it's personal preference. Personally, i prefer XUD's for the simplicity and lack of electrics, but people like Chris, prefer HDi's for the simplicity of "plug and play" tunability. RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 01-07-2013 Xud engine and box all as one, get the pipework etc too..when I looked at my mates nad it looked like no changes to loom were needed. while you there you have two options, change to FMIC or if sticking with TMIC then the bonnet soundproofing/TMIC vent will be needed too no dials to change etc RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 01-07-2013 What is a decent price for a engine and gearbox xud of course RE: nad to d turbo. - Piggy - 01-07-2013 100-150 if comes with all ancilliaries RE: nad to d turbo. - toughmat - 01-07-2013 Ok thanks for the info. Just need a hand fitting one now lol |
