Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Chris_90 - 25-06-2013

Well as above im trying to find a quick and easy way to clean my wheels lots of little places i carnt get my fingers to get the dirt out.

So is there any thing i can use to clean them easily. Like something i can just spray them with and wash down with the hose and it will take all the crap off.

P.s i dont own a pressure washer, or steam cleaner.

some decent alloy wheel cleaner should do it, but a alloy wheel cleaner brush with it will be needed to rub it in.

spray on.
let it soak
rub with brush.
let soak
wash off.

But I be all over them with some decent wax/metal polish. Be easier then.

Yes, get some wheels cleaner. Then stick a couple of layers of Poorboys wheel sealant on afterwards to make life easier in future Smile

I got Meguiars Wonder Wheels from Halfords in the 3 for 2. It says not to be used on aftermarket wheels, just don't be a moron and leave it on too long. Couple of wheel brushes are always handy to get in the spokes too.

Ive used this stuff. Smells like rotten eggs. Works wicked. I found the brush to be crap so I get a small washing up sponge on it. My swallows that I sold to my cousin had never been washed in my ownership and was on back yard for a year. Came out lovely.

Get decent sealant on them and the dirt will fall off anyway. I have bilberry stuff, but have never used in since sealing my wheels, guess mine are an easier design for cleaning than yours though!

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Chris_90 - 25-06-2013

Just bought some wonder wheels from my local car place will give it ago tomorrow will update with some pics,

Would like some of this sealer stuff you guys are on about tho any eBay links?

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - cwspellowe - 25-06-2013

Check places like CleanYourCar for proper cleaning stuff. Some may appear on eBay but the good stuff is on specialist websites

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - ConorTRG - 25-06-2013

Autosmart smart wheels cleaner and a brush. Then seal them with poorboys wheel wax or collinite 476.

That wonder wheels stuff is suppose to be really strong and can stain wheels if your not careful.

After

It did its job but its very time consuming think i would be better with a small sponge was hoping it was going to be easier. Not sure if there are any other products out there? Tbh think if i had a pressure washer then it would be easier gonna look for some of that sealer stuff asap and hope that helps

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Chris_90 - 08-07-2013

Im still struggling with this guys wonder wheels was ok but very time consuming! so i tried auto glym alloy wheel seal and ive just come to wash the brake dust off and its still stuck on meaning ive got to go though every spoke cleaning them.

Gotta be a better/ easier way to clean these surely Undecided

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Curt - 08-07-2013

Get a brush to get in the spokes a stick a couple of layers of this on: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wheel-Sealant-Wax-with-Pad-Microfibre-Poorboys-/140824594964?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item20c9ccca14

It's great stuff. Although you say you still have to go through every spoke... I'm afraid that's the price you pay for such wheels

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Jenkosowls - 09-07-2013

Bilberry wheel cleaner

Epic stuff, and smells amazing. I could clean wheels all day long if i had some of this.

As said though, your always going to have to get into every spoke to get them properly clean. But a good quality cleaner and wheel sealant will make quick washes easier and mean that you wont have to give them a full clean as often.

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Jenkosowls - 09-07-2013

I tend to use wonder wheels hot wheels pretty good product thickens up it does need agetating on tough wheels. Looks cool in effect it's a cheaper version of iron x and its available off the self.

Due to having a polished rim you really need to be carful with what cleaner you use. I think auto glym do a custom wheel cleaner for these purpose. Get some merguiars nxt chrome polish If i remember name rightly it has a paste wax with it and will help protect the polished surface. Auto glym do a spray on wheel sealer. Contains light abrasives so kinda of polish as you buff it off.

Next time though you won't get any wheels with that many spokes!

Invest in a pressure washer though even a £50 jobbie will do helps allot when cleaning wheels

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Curt - 10-07-2013

Any chance you could link me to a safe cleaner for polished lips you'd recommend Jenks? I've only been using normal shampoo for that reason so far, not such an issue with the wax... but I would like some.

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Jenkosowls - 10-07-2013

The auto glym wheel cleaner should be good enough. But also bilberry wheel cleaner can be to. You can really dilute it down and use it as a general light soiled cleaner. Which in the long run saves allot of money. But if the wheels are sealed well then method your using will be good enough as long as you keep on top of it.

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Curt - 10-07-2013

Okay cool, cheers Smile. Will have a look at those 2, Bilberry sounds good with diluting it, heard a lot of people recommend it. The wheels are new so it's easy at the moment, obviously that changes though...

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Slam Wagon - 10-07-2013

Get some wax and seal them before the dort gets ingrained and you will find it much easier to keep the sparkling. Then any branded wheel cleaner should be good enough for you.

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Curt - 10-07-2013

Mine are already sealed up Smile but I know some of the wheel cleaners can be a bit harsh, so I'll keep doing as I am for now. Once I've finished my paint correction, I'll get some more Poor Boy's on

RE: Best way to clean my wheels lenso bsx - Chris_90 - 11-07-2013

We'll I have sealed them with Auto glym stuff to be fair they are easier to clean but still go to go in to every spoke bought a brush for it and it made cleaning them hell of alot quicker still have to use a little sponge on the smaller holes and center caps.

Just gonna have to live with going in every spoke I think.

I did polish the lip up again yesterday and waxed them so see if that helps abit

Don't use Wonder Wheels if you have polished lips! That stuff made a mess of my BBS's Sad

I use AutoGlym or Megs wheel cleaners. Whatever happens to be cheaper really!

The exposed lips will buff up nicely with a bit of autosol, but if you thought using a spray cleaner was time consuming then you're gonna hate using polish!

As for wheel brushes, don't bother with the expensive brushes ie the Meguiars one, simply go to your local supermarket and try to find a dish / washing up brush. The bristles are usually soft enough that they won't damage glasses and crockery so your wheels will be safe Smile I've had the same one for a couple of years now, probably cost 50p!
