Help/Advice needed for Wiring in 205 STDT Tacho Counter - silverzx - 21-06-2013

Trying to swap over to a STDT cluster from my GLD one as I want the rev counter to work.

There are a few differences between the two but I plugged in what I could and the speedometer worked but nothing else, no fuel gauge or oil temp response. Also none of the warning lights such as side lights, full beam, indicator etc don't appear to work.

Here's plenty of photos illustration the differences:

1) The standard cluster

2) The STDT cluster pins

3) The standard cluster pins

4) The STDT cluster

5) The yellow socket that is only on the STDT cluster, presuming for rev counter?

6) A grey 4 pin socket that doesn't seem to fit anywhere on the STDT cluster?

7) A 306 XUD9 rev counter cable that might be useful?

8) The BE1 gearbox, can't see any connections to run the rev counter cable to.

I'm guessing the brown plug is for the reversing sensor.

So basically I'm guessing there is a cable that came on the STDT's that went from the tacho sensor housing straight to the cluster or?

A bit lost really when it comes to wiring...

would you be able to get hold of an stdt dash loom?

basically I had the same problem as you going from phase 1 to phase 2

Are you saying I have a ph1 loom? I thought it was just because it was originally a GLD non-turbo hence why it's missing the tacho bits?

from what i can gather from your pics, your 205 has a different loom from the stdt with different plugs, that plug on the rev counter for instance looks like the one on a phase 2 306 that has the different flywheel sensor.
i guess the stdt clocks came out of a late 205 while yours is an f reg is it not?

As far as I know the looms didn't change between ph1/ph2 but are only different due to engine fitted (1.8 N/A compared to 1.8T).

i see, i cant see in your pics, but on the stdt clocks, is the rev counter cable driven?

no, its the speedo thats cable driven...rpm is plug in

If you dont have the plugs, just wire it manually, only one wire will need to go from sensor to dash, if you look up the 306 / 205 wiring diagrams, you can see the pinouts / how it needs to be wired, a bit of a farce, but fairly easy once you get a grip of how its wired...

Sound!

I don't really know where to start Darren. Building PC's is easily enough, but car looms are a little more frightening!
