Vegy tar on chassis - 306Puggy - 18-06-2013

Just changing the bumper and adjusting the exhaust, I noticed how much vegy tar there was underneath on the chassis. This tar is sticky like a syrup or a tree sap, is it something I should look to clean off once in awhile or will it provide some rust protection?Speechless

Cool story, bro...

a sensible question doesn't deserve some of these responses...

I had this a while ago; check your injectors and leak offs mate. This tar/veg comes from veg, dirt, water mix often.

to get rid of mine i scrubbed HARD, but as above, heat is useful

Hi ginge. What should I look for on the injectors and the leakoffs?

RE: Vegy tar on chassis - ginge191 - 18-06-2013

wetness.
If the leak off pipes or injectors (usually the union, where the fuel line bolts down onto the injector) are loose, wet, signs of leaking, then it should be sorted.
Or you maybe leaking fuel from the fuel lines - basically, trace around the fuel pump, fuel lines, around the bay, back to the fuel tank, make sure it's not leaking slowly anywhere
easy enough to fix.

Seriously Ginge?! Look for a fuel leak from the injectors, at the REAR of the car?

Xud injectors are next to the spare wheel holder, didn't you know????

RE: Vegy tar on chassis - ginge191 - 22-06-2013

And how much experience have you had with this on your car; I had when doing a road trip, the ONLY leak I had was from my leak off; it would cause a small puddle/stain on the floor after ONE startup. Times this by the amount of miles you do, plus water, grit and shot from the road, it finds its way down the bay and sprays up and the most convenient spot; here..

But hell, I only dealt with this after a long road trip and took me fooking ages to remove..

RE: Vegy tar on chassis - Piggy - 22-06-2013

Yeah but when that happens the whole underside of the car is caked in it...its like you have run over a badger with black treacle as blood!

I used sugar soap on my car. Let it soak for like 5mins, and then apply pressure and it comes off

Could be a leak in the fuel filler neck.
