Does the lift pump make a noise when you turn the ignition on?

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 10-06-2013

Im not sure mate wat does it sound like? Just like its priming.

I tryed the fuel cut switch by the ecu but it cliked down once and doesnt seem to click again.

RE: Dead hdi help - Jonny81191 - 10-06-2013

It should make a whining sound, I assume there's plenty of fuel in it? Mine wouldn't start once with the needle showing 1/4 tank so worth chucking a gallon in just to be sure. Also when you say serviced, did you do the fuel filter?

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 10-06-2013

Well the 1 thing 1 didnt do this week was put 20quid in i only put a tenna in. And ye done fuel filter was well over jue. And started strait up after.

RE: Dead hdi help - Jonny81191 - 10-06-2013

ok try bleeding the fuel system properly (look in your haynes)

also stick in a gallon of diesel.

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 10-06-2013

Ok will do mate cheers.

RE: Dead hdi help - Dum-Dum - 11-06-2013

If what Jonny has said doesn't work try running through all your fuses and making sure they are still good.

Is it turning over but not catching or is it completely dead?

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 11-06-2013

Every know and then itll go to fire the just turn over.
Ive changed the fuel pump in the tank with no look.
How do i bleed the system properly? I thoirght it was a self bleeding system.

Also put more fuel in.

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 11-06-2013

Im not getting power to the fuel pump. Any1 know were the relay for it is?

RE: Dead hdi help - Cbray2003 - 11-06-2013

It's a brown relay behind the ecu look down the bck and u will c it that was my problem when my Hdi wouldn't start

RE: Dead hdi help - Poodle - 11-06-2013

Check for signs of corrosion, arcing and damaged pins. Failing that, swap it out for a new one, pug only charge about £15 for a new one iirc. Don't even bother with a pattern part, had three and not one lasted more than 2 months, one was faulty when it arrived lol.

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 12-06-2013

Cheers for the help guys turned out to be that relay. And that second hand pump is naff si ill take ut back and swop it for the relay and some dash trim. I had to use my amp lead out the boot to wire it
Up and get me home.

RE: Dead hdi help - Hdiestate - 12-06-2013

Right guys got a problem. It wasnt the relay after all so im gessing its the feed iver to the relay or from the relay. Any1 got a wireing diagram for the fuel system.
