Black bonet, yes/no? - callumcull - 07-06-2013

I had a matt black bonet with the plastidip stuff on my old polo. Looked good but that might just be a vag thing.

Any thoughts on a 306?

Far to fast round a corner, lift off over steer, lost the back end and rolled a few times. The way the polo is planted in the hedge, I was in fact driving the opposite way haha

Yikes! Lucky to get out of that mate! Had the same experience in my 106, just didn't smash it up!

"dat lift off" as my mates call it!

RE: Black bonet, yes/no? - C.A.R. - 07-06-2013

No.

Looks shit.

Looked shit on the Polo too.

It cries of desperate barry boy attention from the chap who couldn't afford carbon fibre, but the only people who might question it are aeroplane pilots, cos you can spot the difference from a mile off.

Yeah tell me about it. I walked out thinking I could just polish the scratches out. Took a fair few minutes to realise I'd f*cked it up!

Hahahaha, I guess that answers my original question :p

Adrenaline was still circulating at that point haha! Luckily mine didn't have a scratch or dent and i ditched it at about 60 mph! Did you got to a 306 straight after the Polo?

Exactly, "Don't get a black bonnet because you will get lift off over steer!"

Black bonet, yes/no? - callumcull - 07-06-2013

Was using my brothers 1.4 16v polo for a few week, then bought the 306.

Was shit really, had a plan of putting twin webbers in the polo.

6N2? They the ones with supposedly 100 bhp?

Probably saved you a bit of money though as they aren't cheap! Still, you gained a 306 out of it Tongue

Sorry, to keep this thread on track. What he said ^^^^^^

I'd hate for this 306 forum to become a polo forum. Polo's are for grannys and for enjoying as a minty refreshment. not a modified car. /thread?

Black bonet, yes/no? - callumcull - 07-06-2013

Nah, the 16v was 6N. But yeah, apperantly had 100hp. My brothers was slammed, and had banded steelies. That was a fun little car.

I much prefer my 306 though!

Second that. Although, I did have fun in my shitty little 60bhp polo. Probably only because it was my first car.

Dubheads and Pugheads don't go well together, i've had many a firey arguments with them.

Stick to Pugs and you'll be fine!

RE: Black bonet, yes/no? - ginge191 - 07-06-2013

Ah don't get me wrong; there's some awesome dubs out there, but askin about a black bonnet and rolling a polo, i just facepalm..

Black bonet, yes/no? - callumcull - 07-06-2013

I'm gonna stick with pugs. I nearly bought a golf, but they're so boring. I feel like (prepare for some lame comment) the 306 has so much more character about it, and the fact things break a lot, I like that! I really do love my pug! Where as the polo was shit, and was always going to be shit regardless what I do to it. The same applies with the golf.

OT:Is the car black? If so, then yes, get a black bonnet... If not, then don't be a twat

Maybe not on the diablo.

Your build thread is epic, it's making a party in my pants!

RE: Black bonet, yes/no? - pablito - 07-06-2013

Ultimately Callum, it is your car, so you can do as you please.. don't let others sway you.. If you like and want a black bonnet, then you go for it my friend.

Cars are not just vehicles.. but they are expressions of our individual tastes, personality and sense of style.. There are many who will shout you down or mock you for having a carbon wrap or coloured alloys or a massive whale tail.. however.. it is not their car and they do not have to drive it and live with it everyday.

Since you invited opinions, I will give you mine... Me personally I prefer the "less is more" approach to cars and I believe that a black bonnet should be on a black car... however I have seen some cars that have been modded beyond all recognition and still have an impressive charm that cannot be denied.

RE: Black bonet, yes/no? - callumcull - 07-06-2013

Well said mate! I wasn't sure how it would look with a glossy black bonnet, will need to see it on my car (time for photoshop).

And you're absolutely right, it is an expression of individual taste. I like the fact mine looks like a sleeper, it gives a few ST's & Golfs a bit of a surprise Wink
