Welding machine - Ben - 05-06-2013

Thinking of bidding on this, or buying the next one. Any opinions?

It is an inverter type isn't it? Doesn't say as it does in some of their other adds.

Or this one which has the pulse function also...

Are you wanting to tig or mig?

RE: Welding machine - darrenjlobb - 05-06-2013

There both meant for TIG, and also both cheap chinease crap...You may want a tig, but im guessing ud more likely want a mig? And id stay clear of anything new and chinease, rather buy something used / decent brand...

This^^^ those cheap Chinese things are crap for welding and prob wont last 10mins

I personally prefer the old type stick tig welders and get on with them much better, maybe worth looking into a decent 2nd hand one of these, it would be the way id go

I want a tig/stick welder. Problem is with used ones is they are incredibly hard to find. I'd rather not get a chinese one if I can help it, and I have just found these made by a company in Devon. Opinions on this?

I would like to make sure the welder has a high frequency start. The above one says it has 'hot start'. Does this mean its high frequency or scratch?

It means it gives it a pulse of power to get the puddle going when you first start it Big Grin

For a cheap/basic machine I'd go with one of these, at least you have UK support then:

If you go through Jim on the '6 forum he does a bit of discount too.

Thanks for the reply. That doe's look like a better quality welder but it's double what I was looking at spending unfortunately. What's your opinion on the inverter fusion one which I posted a link to last? That also is British made so I'd have UK support..
