turbo oil feed thread? - ozonehostile - 24-05-2013

As title, does anyone know what thread and size the turbo oil feed is on the back of the block?

I have managed to cross thread mine when I put It In originally and need to know what size ends to order to make my own braided line.
Never liked using solid lines anyway, too easy to break

Its a wierd size tbh iv got a spare £10 posted can cut the pipe and get a braided line to fit that

RE: turbo oil feed thread? - ozonehostile - 24-05-2013

I just need the AN number and thread size to order the bits to make a braided line

M16 1.5 sound right?

RE: turbo oil feed thread? - swampy - 24-05-2013

M16 is massive!!

RE: turbo oil feed thread? - zx_volcane - 25-05-2013

yeah m16 x1.5 is the one

had a few made up now, you'll need to flat back the block and use a copper washer, as standard feed seals differently

once i find out the thread and size for the inlet on my turbo il be making my own line yeah, can get the bits I need from my local rally car builders.

so far my list is:

1x m16 1.5 adapter fitting for the block
3ft of stainless braided goodridge hose
PTFE tape
electrical tape
female to female T piece to run my oil pressure gauge off
1x fitting for whatever the size the inlet on my turbo is

i dont know about the ebay ones, it looks like a cheaper option to make your own, a 3ft line with a t piece and the correct ends should cost about £25

You've cross threaded the line into the block, you sure you've not shagged the block fitting?

Normally the cast iron block is weaker than the fitting, I know this from my own experience!!

im guessing it was cross threaded as I can't get it out with anything and ive rounded the nut off trying Sad

How are you intending on getting out once you've got a proper fitting :/

once i have a replacement line to put on the new engine, il cut the line and try to get it off with a socket and breaker bar, failing that angle grinder

Do you think this would be any good to use to make up a turbo feed pipe up from?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-Stainless-Braided-TURBO-OIL-RETURN-FEED-Hose-line-/280470911706?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item414d5e7ada#ht_2558wt_900

Is 6mm the right size you think to use? Also what is it like to put the ends on to the pipe?

RE: turbo oil feed thread? - ozonehostile - 27-05-2013

im not too familiar with sizes in mm when it comes to hose connection sizes, for the xud m16 1.5 connections I believe you will need 8-AN hose to fit.

will you be running an oil pressure gauge?
if so my research so far has got me needing:

3ft 8-AN braided hose
8-AN m16 1.5 straight autofit hose end for the block end
8-AN m16 1.5 autofit hose end 90 degree elbow (turbo end, your turbo might be a different size fitting)

for the pressure gauge:
17mm hex nipple tee m16 1.5
17mm female pipe tee m16 1.5
17mm m16 1.5 male to female pipe busing

i think thats everything apart from the tools required to make it, il screw the tee piece into the block then run the hose to the turbo from the top of that so theres no sharp angle to worry about then run the pipe to the gauge from the other side through the bulkhead.

obviously that is for my gearbox mounted setup, you wont need nearly as much hose for a block mounted turbo

RE: turbo oil feed thread? - Frosty - 27-05-2013

I wont be running a oil pressure gauge.

I think my best bet is to find someone local to make me 1 i think.

Thanks for your help though bud

RE: turbo oil feed thread? - ozonehostile - 27-05-2013

il be doing mine in the next week so il let you know how it goes, if your not putting a t piece in its fairly straight forward Smile
