Clutch Qs - Dum-Dum - 13-05-2013

Just being tight and scottish and wondering if i get a paddle clutch disc could i re use the cover thats currently on the car, do they actually wear?

Also how much are CG unsprung paddle discs for comparison?

It'll have to bed back into the new clutch, maybe get it skimmed if you can to reface it, but that be cheaper than a new plate

They do wear, not so much the 'disc' part, but the diaphragm springs get stiffer and less springy, and the strappers on the edges take abuse.....

Haven't seen it with more powerful cars (stronger straps I guess) but I've seen several 106/saxo clutches snap the thin strappers.

It might last for another while, but personally I'd change it while you've got the 'box off.
