Hi all,
I've been offered a car with a snapped belt but it's some distance away from me so I can't check it over.
I was wondering is a snapped belt likely to be a new head job?
When I had a belt go on my 405 NAD it snapped the camshaft and scrapped the head.

wouldnt bother really. the cost of getting it fixed you can probably get a working hdi for.

If the damage is bad just buy another engine and drop it in, can get good ones for less than a ton these days. Can even break and sell the good bits of the old engine - rods, injectors, hp pump, turbo, etc - to get some of your money back.

I'll let you know when I take my engine apart if there's any valve or piston/rod damage. Theoretically the rockers should break and protect the valves

I'm thinking it might not be worth it because the car is some distance away I need to repair it the and drive it back. If it was like some petrol engines where when the belt breaks you can just time up, replace the belt and off you go I think I might have gone for it.
