Gaskets for turbo adaptor plates - Ben - 30-04-2013

What kind of material do people tend to use?

Best I've found is this and it seems pretty good for the price..

Its either that or I could probably get some graphite gasket from work, which should also be pretty good?

seems good, I was thinking of using copper sheet but this may be better

Looks similar to the stuff me and CJ used on ours. I used some Holts exhaust stuff with it too so that I was completely sure it sealed.

I'll see what I can find at work first. I know we have graphite gasket but I've been told we also have a liquid gasket used on our turbine, which is rated up to 62 bar! Not sure if a liquid gasket would stand up to the vibration as well as graphite though..

Bought some of this but haven't used / tested it yet I'm afraid.

It's quite flexible, will probably crush a fair bit when applied.

Sounds good, if its flexible it would also withstand vibration well I would think.

Exhaust paste FTW, never let me down once yet. that said on my own car ive always used the gaskets from oem application, so just use a td04 gasket etc....MLS nrmally.

^this!

those generic gasket sheets look a pita

Yeah I've got a subaru gasket for the plate - exhaust housing, but the plate I'm making for the manifold - turbo will require a custom one because our standard turbo's didn't have gaskets so can't buy one.

That is the one I used. Just checked and it was Holts Firegum I used as the sealant. Not too hard to make gaskets from if you have some snips, but a bit of a bastard otherwise.

Ive used holts firegum for years, even on flanges on "redneck" jobs that are warped to hell, never ever failed once, its epic stuff!

I was about to say that! I used holts firegum on my plates and downpipe and it works great, its like 4 quid for a tube!

Another vote for firegum, f*cking quality stuff, even on my warped flanges! (giggity)
