How do you adjust the handbrake on a 306? - Welshy_Pete - 05-02-2012 Hello how do you adjust the handbrake height on a 306 hdi? I think there a bolt near the handbrake height. But is there anything else needed to do other then just adjust it? thanks Re: How do you ajust the handbreak 306 - samass - 05-02-2012 you've got to take the handbrake surround off, two screws underneath the rear ashtray, then there's a 13mm bolt underneath the carpet which adjusts the cables. wind it on a bit, test the movement on the lever, and adjust as necessary. id suggest taking it up the road to test it before putting the trim back on, PITA of you dont get it right first time. hope this helps Re: How do you ajust the handbreak 306 - Welshy_Pete - 06-02-2012 samass Wrote:you've got to take the handbrake surround off, two screws underneath the rear ashtray, then there's a 13mm bolt underneath the carpet which adjusts the cables. wind it on a bit, test the movement on the lever, and adjust as necessary. id suggest taking it up the road to test it before putting the trim back on, PITA of you dont get it right first time. I have ajusted the handbreak it was high. Now it clicks to about 4 now. It holds alittle better but if you try to drive it still doesn't hold enough. Whats next wheels of then drums then? thanks Re: How do you ajust the handbreak 306 - samass - 06-02-2012 yeah check the pads [shoes if you have drums, tho iirc HDi's have discs, might be wrong tho] for wear/contamination. new ones aren't expensive. also check for wetness, might be leaking fluid and pissing it on the friction surface, rendering them pretty much useless. Thanks will check those. Anybody know if the 306 hdi has drums or discs on the back? Re: How do you ajust the handbreak 306 - Toms306 - 06-02-2012 Discs on a HDi mate......discs should be self adjusting though. It will have discs on the back of a HDi and the 306 rear discs are well know to be shite, the sliders on the callipers seize up and the handbrake stops working properly, remove the rear callipers and free up the sliders and then it should be a million times better |
