Head unit upgrade from Alpine 9855 - DeeTurbo - 28-04-2013

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of upgrading my headunit, currently I'm running an Alpine 9855 which I got back in 2005. Over the the years I've got the Ipod module kca 420i and a kca-410 which I have a cheap bluetooth module to stream music from my phone to.

The system that I'm running at the moment.

I'm running Alpine type R components up front (which I'm replacing with some Focals 165VRS) that are amped using an Alpine MRV-707 (which will be replaced with an Alpine PDX-4.100 that I've sourced). At the moment I'm running passive but I'm going to go active when I install the PDX-4.100.

In the back I've got some speakers that are only on when I've got passagers there and there amped using a MRV-407.

In the boot I've got a 12" Infinty Kappa 100.1SE and sometimes two 12" Alpine Type R running off a PDX-1.1000.

I've been looking at the Alpine CDA-137BTi that looks really nice but I'm going to have to get the PXA-H100 (IMPRINT) so I can run active and to get the most out of that I take it I'll need to get the KTX-H100?

I've seen the Headunit from £230 CAD, the processor for £140 from CAS and the KTX-H100 is £50 everywhere I've looked.

Has anyone had any experience with the 137BTi and add ons?

The 9855 was a great unit. But going forward, If I were you I'd get one of the Alpine bluetooth ready units such as the 178BT and sync it with your smarthphone for mobile internet radio and 64GB of music on the phone controllable with Poweramp. PS: Don't go for the imprint system - you won't need it. Let me know if you'd like to see my system.

I also have the 9855 and would be interested in its newer equivalent. .. mainly because probably like you I want usb and bluetooth

The independant crossover tweeter control and parametric equalizer with time correction when set up correctly cant be beaten for clarity imo...
