Re: TD04L - mark_airey - 05-02-2012

you have to watch you don't bend the blades when the housing comes off though or the turbo will be junk!!!

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

its taking the piss to get apart av bin at a hour now Angry

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

i must havebeen round this turbo about 40times now and its still not apart

Re: TD04L - Ruan - 06-02-2012

You've taken the circlip out yeah Wink

But yeah, just gotta get friendly with the hammer.

I always put the compressor inlet in a vice and do it up as tight as you dare without bending/cracking the ally... Or if your vice is big enough, put the ENTIRE housing in the vice... Then hammer the cast of the exhaust housing/centre cartridge... Just gotta have the balls, if you see it go at any time on the piss, put it back in and go for the opposite side. Just make sure you're even with it.

Be careful!

But man up!

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

av got it apart with out bending any blades or owt now what do i do Smile

studturbo Wrote:av got it apart with out bending any blades or owt now what do i do Smile

 I won't reply to your PM then.

Are you being serious....................

You need to clock it all round so that the inlet is pointing the right way, the oil return is pointing down and then remove and clock the exhaust housing so that its facing the correct way.................

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

should i clean it all up where am got it apart and i cant do the inlet side as i dont have anyway of getting the circlip out Sad

Re: TD04L - padge - 06-02-2012

buy/borrow some circlip pliers, goto a garage and ask them to undo it.

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

Well its abit hard when av got no cylinder head and no pistons or rods in my engine ahaa

Re: TD04L - Ruan - 06-02-2012

*facedesk*

Wait until you have then...

Have you got the turbine housing off yet? Get doing that too, so you've got a bare cartridge and the two housings.

Re: TD04L - padge - 06-02-2012

no garage in walking distance?

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

a cant get the inlet side off untill i get some circlip pliers so only got the exhaust side off yet

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

100% this

I don't know why but I get the feeling that this is going to go horribly wrong.........

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 06-02-2012

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 13-02-2012

Should have K03 manifold this week Smile

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 16-02-2012

finaly got a k03 manifold whats the best to do make a plate a bolt it on or weld it straight to manifold ?

Re: TD04L - silverzx - 17-02-2012

studturbo Wrote:finaly got a k03 manifold whats the best to do make a plate a bolt it on or weld it straight to manifold ?

If you weld it on then you won't be able to re-use the manifold (with ease).

I think your better off making an adapter so you can replace the turbo without having to do any more welding in case it blows.

On the other hand if you can weld well then its probably a lot easier/lazier to just weld it straight on..

Re: TD04L - Dave - 19-02-2012

weld it straight on, then if it blows just change the cartridge? Much easier/quicker/lazier then plate method...

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 19-02-2012

sweet weld it on then Smile
now for the elbow now that needs a plate making dont it to put a k03 elbow on yes ?
