Wheel refurbing, again - declantg - 25-04-2013 Quick questions really. Sanding all the paint off my wheels, but so I really need etch primer? Or can I just use normal? As no where sells it near me, unless I go halfrauds 10 miles away. They are the vts alloys RE: Wheel refurbing, again - silverzx - 25-04-2013 The only thing worth doing with VTS wheels is: Step 1: Poundland sand paper Step 2: Poundland primer Step 3: Poundland paint Step 4: Poundland lacquer Seriously though, it doesn't matter all that much, standard primer will be fine! RE: Wheel refurbing, again - declantg - 25-04-2013 Haha FYC Nice one, am bringing the paint completely down, making sure it's all smooth so hopefully won't be a problem RE: Wheel refurbing, again - silverzx - 25-04-2013 The pic of the one wheel you've put up looks very well done. RE: Wheel refurbing, again - declantg - 25-04-2013 Still got loads to take off on it RE: Wheel refurbing, again - silverzx - 25-04-2013 The edges look like they need more work and the wheel itself looks like its showing signs of damage, it definitely isn't round anymore! RE: Wheel refurbing, again - declantg - 25-04-2013 Not sure if trolling :/ Yeah I'm still doing the edges ATM, pita RE: Wheel refurbing, again - silverzx - 25-04-2013 (25-04-2013, 08:50 AM)declantg Wrote: Not sure if trolling :/ Haha. Seriously, they look like they've hit the kerb a few times! RE: Wheel refurbing, again - declantg - 25-04-2013 Previous owner, I stay well clear of nasty kirbs! RE: Wheel refurbing, again - silverzx - 25-04-2013 Can you imagine that: "I know, I aim for kerbs when driving - YOLO". RE: Wheel refurbing, again - declantg - 25-04-2013 Well it was a woman! RE: Wheel refurbing, again - Oil-burner - 25-04-2013 You would have got away with it if you werent taking all the paint off! RE: Wheel refurbing, again - 306Puggy - 25-04-2013 Use etch primer! I used standard primer on my wheels and they are all f*cked up again! The paint comes off way too easily. RE: Wheel refurbing, again - Oil-burner - 25-04-2013 See, its not worth skimping on them else you'll just have to do it again! Normal primer can't adhere properly to bare metal RE: Wheel refurbing, again - Slam Wagon - 25-04-2013 Whats the primer like under the paint thats on them? If thats alright then just take it back down to that, the i would just put a fresh coat of primer to be sure and then the new paint. |
