Movano intercooler? - W1ll - 21-04-2013

Would it fit/look right? Would it give decent performance upgrade with stage 2 or will a universal be better?

RE: Movano intercooler? - Daniel306 - 21-04-2013

looks to be the near the same size as one i have, believe its from a 2.0Td vatara

The first 1/4 gets hot and the rest is cold, i have even seen condensation on the pipes under the bonnet

RE: Movano intercooler? - Eeyore - 21-04-2013

arent the inlets angled wrong so youll never be able to route them around the radiator?

RE: Movano intercooler? - ozonehostile - 21-04-2013

what rowell said, the inlet angles are too sharp, you would need to saw holes out of the slam panel or something to get that to fit. massive pita

RE: Movano intercooler? - Daniel306 - 21-04-2013

I made the pipe's slightly oval and they fit perfect either side of the radiator, would need to get the dimensions of that one and check it could be done

RE: Movano intercooler? - Piggy - 22-04-2013

its also quite expensive for ebay...I have bought a few for 99p and sold on!

RE: Movano intercooler? - W1ll - 22-04-2013

Well I can get one or similar from vehicle near enough free that was just an example. What fits well and is hidden but performs well? I don't want to do any cutting you see..

RE: Movano intercooler? - Poodle - 22-04-2013

Youll be hard pressed to find something that ticks all those boxes mate. A trick that works for me - search the intercooler on google images, there'll almost always be a pic from nissens or similar with measurements show.. The measurements from the hdi:
Radiator = 750mm wide
Gap between chassis front panels = 835mm wide iirc

As you can see, not much room to work with... The gap between the chassis legs themselves is 870mm, so with some panel adjustment you can get a bit more.

RE: Movano intercooler? - W1ll - 22-04-2013

So literally 80mm to play with? Thanks for them measurements will have a look tonight at measurements

You got any pictures of yours mate?

With the angle of the inlet/exit does it match up with the car okay?

Do you think these will give as good performance gains as a universal one would?

RE: Movano intercooler? - puglove - 23-04-2013

Yes IMO it would efficientally cool the charge air.

When fitted in a place with good air flow of course

RE: Movano intercooler? - Poodle - 23-04-2013

There are much better oem fmics you can get imo, the outlets on that 308 one would make mounting and plumbing difficult i think...

Several options of decent size and different installation here, should be something that suits your purposes:
Tidy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-MONDEO-2-0-2-2-TDCI-2-0-TDDI-2000-2007-INTERCOOLER-NEW-2-YEAR-WARRANTY-/271189759022?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord|Model%3AMondeo&hash=item3f242b542e
Bigger: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-MASTER-MOVANO-INTERSTAR-2-2DCI-INTERCOOLER-2000-2004-/280903996646?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CommercialVehicleParts_SM&hash=item41672ed4e6
Huge!: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IVECO-DAILY-2000-2006-2-8-INTERCOOLER-/160913723996?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CommercialVehicleParts_SM&hash=item257734925c
Alternative: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-MEGANE-1-5DCI-1-9DCI-INTERCOOLER-/251255410841?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a7ffd5099

OEM intercoolers will also be more efficient than cheap ebay jobbies, through better-funded design, and probably flow more too.

RE: Movano intercooler? - W1ll - 23-04-2013

I have actually looked at that Mondeo one! What are your thoughts with it?

IIRC it was a bit too long (giggity) to fit the piping up the sides of the rad.

RE: Movano intercooler? - W1ll - 23-04-2013

Do you think it could be modified easily.. (Fabricators at work Wink )

Actually looking at the iveco daily that looks like it could fit nicely?

RE: Movano intercooler? - Poodle - 23-04-2013

That mondeo one will have plenty of room - about 150mm either side to sort the piping out - there is a longer one that won't fit with ease though.

They would all fit nicely, that's the point of the selection i've put up. As said above, search google images for xxx intercooler and there will be a result from nissens that shows measurements. Nice and easy. Smile

RE: Movano intercooler? - W1ll - 24-04-2013

Cheers Smile Smile
