My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 21-04-2013 Hi all, just joined up. I managed to acquire this little 306 1.8 16v estate for just £200. It came with only 92k on the clock,2months MOT and 4 months tax. I put it through an MOT a month early and it bloody passed lol! And that was in october and its been a great little car to tide me over while my Vectra GSi is off the road. The car is ideal for chucking stuff in the back! Great for our 3 dogs. Basically its been a little work horse but ive really grown to like this car,Its cheap to run etc. Some pics from when i first got it Some dodgy wireing! Dirty engine bay! Earning its upkeep Dog guard fitted And tidying up the wiring, soldered is and heat shrink. And cleaned up a bit Had some issues with the electric drivers window, didnt work at all when i 1st got the car which turned out to be the switch. For some reason ive had to clean the switch out 3 or 4 times of grease The last time i usd some degreaser and its been fine for a while now, although the mirror switch is knackered so i could do with a complete switch i suppose. Recently ive had a click noise from accelerating and when the engine is started which ive located to the side/top engine mount. Seems that a common fault? Thats about it for now. RE: My bargain estate! - Kas1990 - 21-04-2013 Looks a gem for £200 mate!! Right steal at that price too. Cleaned up well! RE: My bargain estate! - Birk - 29-04-2013 Begging for a gti6 engine. RE: My bargain estate! - puglove - 29-04-2013 we can start calling this forum 306estateOC soon lol. looks good mate. you cant moan at a car for atleast a year for £250 (withMOT) looks to be in fairly good nick. how well does the the 1.8 pull the weight of the estate? is it fairly juicy? RE: My bargain estate! - Eeyore - 29-04-2013 jesus christ. An estate that was cheaper than mine (£300). Then again mine was a hdi. 1.* should be good though! Itll sound epic even if it is chronic on fuel D: RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 12-06-2013 Cheers lads. Went on holiday to Scarborough in it few weeks back. Our 3 large dogs, all our stuff,me and the pregnant mrs! Did over 500 mile in the week and on 1 tank of fuel!! Me dad gave me a load cover/parcel shelf for it he eventually found from his old 306 that was stolen years ago. So that's saved me at least £30! Not seen one go for less than that anyway! Also, tonight sorted the clicky top engine mount. Struggled to get the bottom part undone until I googled it and read on here basically whack it with a big hammer and screwdriver,it came straight undone! Car feels looooads better now. No clicking and engine note sounds lots better on acceleration. Next on the list is a couple of tyres. Great little car. RE: My bargain estate! - 306carter - 12-06-2013 Seen this before... VVOC? RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 12-06-2013 Yes fella. Thought I'd try out a pug forum for this old gal RE: My bargain estate! - Zoemilly1 - 12-06-2013 (29-04-2013, 09:03 AM)Birk Wrote: Begging for a gti6 engine. Yes! That would be cool! Get it lowered!! RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 12-06-2013 (12-06-2013, 08:24 PM)Piggy Wrote: what a bargain...ebay? Nope. Basically someone owed my dad £150. He was getting rid of this so my dad said he'd give him £50 and call it quits. Then Rang me up and said "Ive bought you a present,a car" I was like wtf lol. Thing was my vectra was off the road (still is) so he done me a massive favour really. Im not some spoilt kid btw before anyone says lol. Dont get hand outs etc. Was a total surprise. Surely this would be worth at least £500 wouldnt it? Be nice to get my old man some profit when it comes to getting rid. RE: My bargain estate! - ethanhp1991 - 12-06-2013 More and more estates popping up, I love it RE: My bargain estate! - 4WayDiablo - 12-06-2013 1.8 16v cheap to run? The hdi's are cheaper! And remap to 130bhp (as opposed to the 1.8's 112) whilst retaining the mpg However for 200 ..can't complain! Its not lightening or anything but plenty fast enough for pottering about, give it some and it feels pretty nippy. Loaded up it feels a bit sluggish at times if im honest. As for juice,I recently had Just over 500 mile to a tank of fuel so id say pretty good. But i dont go thrashing it about at all. Drive it pretty sensibly RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 13-06-2013 Anyone know anything about the rcl? Seems really hit and miss whether it works or not! New battery needed? Also whats the small button on the fob for? Doesnt seem to do anything apart from light up the red LED lol RE: My bargain estate! - Piggy - 13-06-2013 big button locks. then use the small button once locked and it should operate the deadlocks. new battery is cheap and easy to try! RE: My bargain estate! - puglove - 14-06-2013 Old peugeot RCL is hit and miss at the best of times lmao RE: My bargain estate! - Piggy - 14-06-2013 ...dont mean to brag...but I bought a new blipper and battery and its spot on...everytime RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 14-06-2013 Ill try a couple of new batteries then. Cheers. Don't think the little button does anything on mine if I'm honest I haven't noticed anyway RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 15-06-2013 Little button does work! Tried it yesterday! All dead locks work as they should! Thought I write a little list of jobs that need sorting. New front tyres. Want the cambelt/water pump done. Drivers door check strap, bolts keep coming out. Rear wiper doesn't work, not sure why. Prob the motor. That's about it! checked all the plugs few weeks back and it has NGK iridium spark plugs which looked about brand new. Would like to change the oil and filter and fuel filter. Can't undo the screw on the airbox they need drilling out to change the filter! RE: My bargain estate! - Piggy - 16-06-2013 consider checking the loom between body and boot for the rear wiper...very prone to wires breaking glad the blipper works. have you also found the cool 306 fuel cap holder?? RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 16-06-2013 (16-06-2013, 07:20 AM)Piggy Wrote: consider checking the loom between body and boot for the rear wiper...very prone to wires breaking Good shout on the loom cheers! Just had a similar thing with my vectra and the rear door. Broken wires in the loom. Think ill remove the motor and connect it to some power and see if it works also. Yeah found the fuel cap holder! I do find the cap a bitch to screw back on sometimes though RE: My bargain estate! - Jimmy306 - 28-06-2013 New tyre fitted today. Made the world of difference to the feel of it. Especially now its all balenced up Had a look at the wires for the rear wiper today and cant see any breaks anywhere. The rear wash wipe works (no water comes out anymore) I can hear the motor working away. Had a look at fixing the sterio lever on the steering column aswell as it just rattles about which is annoying. This is what I found So will poxy resin that in place tomorrow. No idea what to do about this rear wiper though |
