in need of some help.
me and the mrs are going away in a few weeks. been thinking about buying a decent camera. but i know nothing about them.
i have up to £150 to spend so what would you recomend?

ive just bought a fujifilm finepix s4240 good camera
they have some s4000 in out local tesco on offer at £119 at the moment

think mine is the S4000 and its awesome, more features than I can use but great for playing with and the auto mode is really good for being lazy.
I still rarely take it out and always end up taking photos with my camera phone.

all the S4xxx cameras have the same body internals with different lens's optical X18.X24.X30 zoom

what i like is it takes AA batterys so if you run out of rechargables just pop to the shop for some nonrechargable and you still shooting. you dont have to wait for the internal battery to charge.
it takes std sized SDcard mine has a 32gb card in it and says it will take 4500 pics at the highest quality setting

I've an S4200 and it's ok but to be honest I actually think my old Finepix bridge was better, was on an S1900 but pictures appeared much sharper. Quite disappointed, wish i'd spent a little more and got the Lumix L810 instead.
Ah well, still handy, but spending the night with my pal's 7d realised what a massive difference there is between an ok bridge camera and a proper DSLR. One can only dream..

Agreed, one of its redeeming features is the auto-pano, especially with a tripod. Stitching appears seamless between the shots

personally im happy with my 500D. you can get a 400D or something for about £300 now.

Yeah i can get the s4300 for £119 which is a good price and like I say I'm Noob with cameras for will hopefully be a good starting point

For pointing and shooting you'll be fine with that. Get a tripod though, even a £20 cheap one, if you want to use the shutter speed settings

I had a Fujifilm Finepix bridge years ago and was very impressed by it! The missus has just bought a GE X400 bridge and I'm not a fan TBH, My Lumix pocket camera does a better job.

Lumix or an older Canon G7\G8\G9, whatever is the best you can afford imho, you wont get much bettet for the money... Dont.get hung up on new cameras... Some of the year old high end kit will be cheaper and way outperform some expensive consumer kit...
