The engine choice is 2.0 HDi (common rail) or 1.9 XUD (mechanical injection).

They are both 90bhp as standard so neither are exactly powerful. DTurbo's arent particularly comfy either, you want a meridian for comfort really, softer suspension and half leather seats, as well as a leather steering wheel and gear knob.

The HDi can be remapped for more power.
The XUD fuel pump can be tweaked for more power.

So really it depends on the person as to which is 'best'.

Hdi is more refined, economy. Dturbos easier to tune, more fun to play with.

was thinkin of stripping back of it out and 2 reclining bucket seats and harnesses, will be handy for the dogs aswel being stripped out, are they any good standard?without being chipped?

Tbh you should do a bit of research/searching on here really.

Power is in the eye of the driver, I've always hated how slow HDis are lol, but from a 1.0 Corsa maybe they'll seem quick! That said, if you can flash a map and know the right people you can up the power to around 120bhp for like £20, which is 'enough' really, not quick, but makes it driveable at least lol. If you like fiddling with screws and getting covered in crap you can tweak the XUD yourself for the same kinda power.

i dont mind playing with things :-D i might take a look at the car and see what she driver like, :-D

As for torsion bars, yes all 306's have those.

700 euros seems a damn good price to me, perhaps too good - what's wrong with it haha. HDi dturbos are meant to have slightly lower suspension too i think.

no trouble with mine at all, just not had time to put it road worthy, no nct or tax on it at minute like. as i said i only drove it home

i was only messaging through adverts n she dropped price fairly quick, seems eager to sell n not a lot of interest, makes me think smething is lurking underneath

yeah, nothing as bad as travelling to see a yoke n it be shite, before i bought 406 i have now, went look at a different one that was shite, lad wanted 900, dropped to 850, 97, 196k, less nct than he said, more miles than advertised, drivers window broke n bushings hanging a sunder. then he had the cheek to say i was wasting his time!!!!

At least an XUD does it properly, a HDi you'll have a thousand fault codes, need a new lift pump, need a new FRPS, injectors rattling, immobiliser deicded to forget itself etc etc.

If you can name a rod being bust on an XUD below 140hp in the past year I'll be impressed... It's so uncommon in the grand scheme of things... There's a thread near enough weekly on a HDi not starting..

Yeah fair point Ru, i suppose the odd electrical issue does completely outweigh all the benefits of direct injection and ecu control - economy, power, refinement, etc. Besides, the only really big power diesel round here was Darrens and that's a XUD, OWAIT! :p
